It belongs to one of the three palaces of the Imperial Palace in Beijing, located between the Ganqing Palace and the Suining Palace. The name of the palace is taken from the Yijing, which contains the meaning of "the intersection of heaven and earth, and the beauty of Kangtai". The 12 years of Shunzhi (1655), Kangxi 8 (1669) rebuilt, Jiaqing 2 (1797) dry Qing Palace fire, the temple was destroyed, the temple was rebuilt. 交泰殿,是故宫紫禁城内廷三大殿之一,位于乾清宫和坤宁宫之间。交泰殿的殿阁,明显要比乾清宫和坤宁宫小很多,历史上这里是皇后接受朝贺的地方,现在这里收藏着清朝象征皇权的25枚印玺。殿内还有一座高5米多的大自鸣钟,宫内所有的时刻都已此钟为主。
交泰殿平面为方形,面阔、进深各3间,黄琉璃瓦四角攒尖鎏金宝顶,小于中和殿。殿中设有宝座,宝座后有4扇屏风,上有乾隆御笔《交泰殿铭》。殿顶内正中为八藻井。单檐四角攒尖顶,铜镀金宝顶,黄琉璃瓦,双昂五踩斗栱,梁枋饰龙凤和玺彩画。四面明间开门,三交六椀菱花,龙凤裙板隔扇门各4扇,南面次间为槛窗,其余三面次间均为墙。殿内顶部为盘龙衔珠藻井,地面铺墁金砖。殿中明间设宝座,上悬康熙帝御书"无为"匾,宝座后有板屏一面,上书乾隆帝御制《交泰殿铭》。东次间设铜壶滴漏,乾隆年后不再使用。在交泰殿内西次间一侧,设有一座自鸣钟,这是嘉庆三年制造的。皇宫里的时间都以此为准。自鸣钟高约6米,是中国现存最大的古代座钟。殿内之物二十五宝。二十五宝是皇帝行使权力的印章,乾隆十三年(1748年),皇帝将代表 皇权的二十五宝存放在交泰殿。这些玉玺由内阁掌握,由宫殿监的 监正管理,用时须请示皇帝,经许可后方可使用。
