Dongbaek Park

Dongbaek Park is a park renovated from Dongbaek Island, which is located at the southern end of Haeundae Beach. The small island is full of greenery such as Dongbaek and pine trees. There are many islands on the southern coast where Dongbaek trees grow naturally. Among them, Dongbaekdo in Busan, which used to be an island in the sea, is now connected to the land. Dongbaek Island is very small, surrounded by lush Dongbaek and pine trees. On the top of the island, there are bronze statues and monuments of Mr. Cui Zhiyuan (a scholar and writer in the Silla period). Dongbaek Island was designated as the No. 46 monument by the Busan Metropolitan City. Tourists visiting Haeundae can easily spot Dongbaek Park on the island and a 2.5-meter-tall mermaid elephant near the beach. Dongbaek Park was designated as the foundation of the park on September 1, 1966, and was officially developed in the 1990s to become the current park.
