The Mote is a hill overlooking the coastline. Centuries ago there was a fortified settlement on the top, but now it's just a nice viewpoint. Take care on the path up & down as it can be a bit slipper...

Very important pre Norman site that's easy to access.
Impressive Anglo Saxon era site that was obviously very important, cos it's a massive mound! It's easy to access if your in Kippford or Rockcliffe, though use the entrance by the field at the Rockcli...

interesting location
We were walking from Rockcliffe to Kippford and so passed around this landmark, which is interesting and worth a visit
