Having been born and raised in Henan, he had never been there and so was sceptical about the draw of these mountain carvings. I am now however glad to report that this was his favourite destination on our trip! Although the largest, most impressive Buddha carving was covered for repairs (it opened back up again a few days later! Grr!) my favourite part happened to be a small calve with over 5000 tiny carvings of the Buddha covering the walls.
