A Little Ordinary
I understand that this monument to the war is very important to the local people. But as a piece of art, I found it very ordinary, and the stone square in front is unforgiving in the bright sun.
The struggle for freedom
This monument was made in 1973. It’s located in the center near the Famagusta gate and a large park. The statues remind us the history of Cyprus. We sat on a bench for a while and relax. It’s worth a ...

Decent monument. Rather isolated - there isn’t much to see around the square besides the Liberty Monument - a few cafes and restaurants
Erected in 1973
The Liberty Monument was erected in 1973 to honor the anti-British EOKA fighters of the Cyprus Emergency of 1955–1959 and it contains several statues.
Beautiful monument
I highly recommend making a side trip to this monument. It is very well designed and evocative and it is also near by a large section of the Venetian walls
