NO WILDLIFE SPOTTED. We traveled from Missouri , September, to see moose, bear ,elk, etc... drove around Steamboat Springs for a week, didn't see anything but magpies!! Went to Mount Zirkel Wilderne...

Wow - had not been there for 20 years - still beautiful but waaaayyyyy more crowded.
Tried to ascend Hahn's Peak by some old mining trails out of Columbine. We made it most of the way to the peak but turned back with thunderstorms in the area. Best to all.

50 minute drive from Steamboat; park and hike to Lake Gilpen. Expect 5-6 hours round trip but well worth the experience! There are many other trails connected and nearby.

MUST VISIT If You Are A Hiker!
50 minute drive from Steamboat; park and hike to Lake Gilpen. Expect 5-6 hours round trip but well worth the experience! There are many other trails connected and nearby.
