Wanglongyu is located in the village of Zhanshan, Yilan Yuanshan Township, also known as Soft Dragonfly. Due to flash floods and earth and rock collapse hundreds of years ago, it naturally formed a lake with an area of about four to five hectares and a long narrow shape. Since Wanglongyu belongs to the lake in the mountains, the water level of the lake is completely dependent on the amount of rain, and the water volume is more closely related to the local residents, so the local elders named the lake "Wanglong" and prayed for the abundant rain. Wanglongyu to the Republic of China in the 1970s due to insufficient water, the water level was reduced, dried up, and the lake was overgrown. Until the 90th year of the Republic of China, after the establishment of the Zhenshan Leisure Agricultural Area, under the efforts of the Water and Soil Conservation Bureau of the Agricultural Committee, the Water Conservancy Association and people from all walks of life, jointly planned and constructed, and dug the silted soil in the lake, repaired the embankment, and built additional facilities such as Jiuqu Bridge and Lake Huan Trail. At the same time, the introduction of Dajiaoxi water source and the release of native fish species, let Wanglongyu gradually restore the former style.
