Must-Visit Spots in Sooss: Weingut Steiner 67er (Hauptstraße 67): Small, inviting, and proud of local varietals. The staff was passionate—don’t skip their signature reds! Weingut Grabner & Schierer (Hauptstraße 55, open Mon–Sat 08:00–19:00): This place blends tradition with fresh local wines. Book a guided tasting if you can; the Schierer label surprised me with quality and easy-drinking bottles. Each glass came with friendly chat and insider tips about the region. Porto Cervo in Baden (Hauptstrasse 68, Sooss): For dinner, I grabbed a table in this modern spot. Think cozy wood panels, display cases, and big windows to watch the rain fall. Their menu features Austrian classics with a creative twist—try the local cruise Schierer wine, it’s smooth and pairs great with anything hearty. Travel Tips: Make this a walkable wine trail—everything’s within a few blocks on Hauptstraße, so you can sip, stroll, and soak in the outdoor landscapes, even on a cloudy day. On rainy afternoons, these family-run places feel extra inviting. Chat with owners for wine recs you won’t see shipped anywhere else. Trains from Vienna take 30–40 minutes to Baden; from there, local buses or a short taxi hop to Sooss.
