Liverpool doesn’t just have the Beatles – if you’re an arts/culture junkie, this city walk route will be your favorite this time! Let me take you on a tour of Liverpool's three popular literary and artistic strongholds: from the Walker Art Gallery, which has a rich collection and regularly updates new works, to the atmosphere-filled Central Library, and then to National Museums Liverpool to see the most amazing aquarium - a photo spot and student knowledge is completed in one go!
Attraction inventory recommendations:
1. Walker Art Gallery

⏰ Opening hours: 10:00 - 16:00 (Tuesday - Sunday), closed on Mondays
As one of the oldest and largest public art galleries in the UK, Collector-level British classical paintings and modern art trends have everything. Special recommendation There are many new paintings on display recently, the atmosphere is very fresh! Whether you specialize in painting or new media art, there will always be one that will catch your eye, for hipsters and art lovers to enjoy quietly.
2. Liverpool Central Library
📍Address: William Brown St, Liverpool L3 8EW UK
⏰Opening Hours: 09:00 - 20:00 (Mon-Fri), 09:00 - 17:00 (Saturday)
One of the must-visit landmarks for hipster pilgrimages! Not only is there a lot of books here, the interior design of the library is super layered, and the atmosphere is great for taking pictures. The rooftop terrace overlooks the streetscape of Liverpool's classical and modern architecture.
3. National Museums Liverpool
📍Address: Peter St, Liverpool L1 6BL, United Kingdom
⏰Opening Hours: 10:00 - 17:00 (Tue-Sun)
Don’t think it’s just exhibits – their aquarium section is the most amazing! The fish tank design is trendy and full of perspective. The underwater world is both healing and photogenic. There are regular activities/humanities exhibitions in the museum, under the modern architecture even the outdoor garden and together to enjoy, suitable for chill explore.
🌟 Real tips blessing:
Highly recommended the aquarium area, very exciting planning, various fantastic underwater animals under the glass curtain wall for you to observe up close - even if it snows, it is as fantastic as walking in a fantasy forest! There are many new paintings in this issue of the art gallery, which are fresh every time you go, and are extremely worth revisiting from time to time.
🚗 Transportation Tips:
The above three arts and crafts attractions are located in the city center, within walking distance, suitable for a day of hipster city walk. There are several bus/rail lines nearby and a taxi is also convenient.
🍔 Food Recommendations:
- There are many Cafe & British pubs near the library/art gallery where you can try local Liverpool pasty, mussel soup and other specialties;
- After walking, I stopped by Bold Street for food. The density of European fusion shops and dessert shops is high, so I can't choose from soda/hand-brewed coffee.
📎 Practical tips:
- Some exhibitions at the Gallery and Museum are free to visit, some special exhibitions require reservation/ticket arrangements;
- It is recommended to bring a lightweight jacket, even on sunny days when indoor air conditioning remains strong;
- It is recommended to arrive at the venue half an hour in advance to avoid the crowds and leisurely painting and watching fish.
