Sevan is especially enchanting in winter, and this short trip to the Sevan Lake Monastery is definitely worth writing about. Armenia is not only rich in culture, but Lake Sevan in winter possesses a serene and poetic beauty. Strolling along the snow-covered lakeside, you can truly appreciate the awe-inspiring sight of the "monastery in the snow." The best part? The grilled fish and meat skewers are cooked directly over charcoal, with slightly charred edges and an irresistible aroma. Enjoying hot, steaming grilled meat while admiring the snowscape is pure bliss!

🌲Day Trip Highlights:

Sevan Lake Monastery: The most famous landmark on the shores of Lake Sevan! Nestled against the mountainside overlooking the lake, the monastery is a pristine white wonderland in winter. A leisurely walk up the stone steps offers breathtaking views of the vast lake and distant mountains. The monastery is primarily constructed of black stone, exuding a strong medieval atmosphere. It's recommended to enter around 10 am, when the lake is most beautifully illuminated by the sunlight.

Snow Activities/Lakeside Walks
Lake Sevan in winter has a charming Nordic town feel. The lakeside paths are covered in thick snow, and the occasional mist over the lake against the blue sky makes for perfect photos. We recommend bringing non-slip shoes. If you're lucky, you might even see locals fishing or skiing in the town.

Artistic Mini-Trip
There are also many unique handmade craft shops along the lake. You can browse traditional carpets, pottery, and paintings. If you're lucky, you might even catch an open-air music performance. After taking photos of the snow scenery, stopping by for a hot cup of tea to warm up is super relaxing!

A must-try at Lake Sevan: freshly grilled lake fish and various meat skewers. Most of the stalls and restaurants here are located in the village at the foot of the slope next to the monastery. The fish is caught and killed fresh from their own lake, and the meat skewers are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside—super comforting! We recommend ordering a fish and meat skewer combo; it's perfect for two people to share.
