There is a Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park (address: 1770 Village Place, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA, 92101). It is between the San Diego Zoo and the Museum of Natural History. A lot of tourists will miss it because it is not on the main street --- Paseo del Prado. Actually, Spanish Village Art Center is a place worth visiting. Especially because it is a place tour groups will not take you.

Spanish Village Art Center is a wonderful place to take pictures. Even a person with clumsy hands like me can take Spanish style pictures here. Being here always makes me feel like you are in some European town. Thanks to colorful houses with some suspended flowers and plants, it is a style unlike the Instagrammable walls. Personally speaking, it is more comfortable and distinct. The point is there are fewer tourists! Fewer tourists! Fewer tourists! It is a typical town to see views rather than people (highlighted)

Don’t walk away, follow my shot to travel Spanish Village Art Center in San Diego. Maybe in a corner, it happens to catch your eyes, and then you fall in love with this colorful town. Anyhow, I am enchanted by the rainbow brick floor, broken and completely obsessed with the town.

Into Spanish Village, a colorful land is in sight. Bright colors emphasize fire-like enthusiasm of Latin people everywhere. I was shocked the moment I entered that there should be such a place. It just feels like a “rainbow is broken and scattered on the floor”, and “God loves Spanish Village and knocked over his palette”.

These houses and courts were built in 1935 for the Second California Pacific Exposition. Compared with those majestic and gorgeous Spanish mansions in Balboa Park, buildings in this Spanish Village Art Center are a bit simple. Houses in the village are almost all low bungalows. The houses are colorful, and each house has different style and color; they are all unique, and the color does not seem extremely pure, as if several colors were mixed.

A group of devoted artists live in this village and their artworks are exhibited to the public here. Because I came early, the artists have not arrived yet. So there is nothing else to do but to take many beautiful pictures in such a rainbow-like place. There are frequent exhibitions here as well as various irregular activities. The most important thing is pictures taken here are very beautiful!

All artists love this place and they love the sunshine and Spanish style, which inspires them for their paintings. When you walk into workshops here, even the air smells like art cells. The artistic atmosphere is extremely strong. If you love art, design or beauty, you should pay a visit. Art exhibitions and some activities are held from time to time. For specific times, please check the official website. I lack artistic talent, so I missed an art exhibition.

If Shawn didn’t show me the way, I wouldn’t have found this small art village. So, if you have no sense of direction, you’d better have company. If you are interested, you may as well look for your favorite spot and take your own Internet-famous pictures in Balboa Park of San Diego. Even if your hands are clumsy, you can still find beautiful angles here.

Into the small art village, you will find that many stores here are very unique and exquisite. Most of them are Spanish-theme boutiques. It seems that they symbolize something. Each time I pass a store, if I find it interesting, I will enter without hesitation. Many things there are original or handcraft products made by the owner. If you love artware and accessories, perhaps you will find your favorite item, or something you love.

On the second weekend of each June and November, the pottery guild in San Diego will hold semi-annual exhibitions and sale activities. On that occasion, the whole Spanish Village will be filled. Colorful houses will be surrounded by accessories and it is a sight to see. But it is a pity we didn’t have luck this time. Next time when I come to San Diego, I hope I will have the chance to see it.

Life is not always perfect, let me save this regret for the next time. There is always a place worth repeated visits!
