date journey
Day 1 Puji Temple->Baibusha->Zizhulin->33-meter-high Nanhai Guanyin
Day 2 Shuangquan Zen Temple->Qianbusha->Fayu Temple->Huiji Temple

Puji Temple, also known as the "Qian Temple", is the main temple dedicated to Guanyin on the mountain. It has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere and is a good place to worship and pray. Puji Temple, Fayu Temple and Huiji Temple are known as the three major temples. They are also the most popular temples on Mount Putuo. During holidays, they are often crowded with tourists and pilgrims.

When you enter the temple, you will pass by a stone archway. Next to it is a tablet engraved with "Civil and military officials, soldiers, civilians, etc. please dismount here." When you arrive here, you will begin your tour of Puji Temple. After passing the stone archway, you will reach the Imperial Stele Pavilion, and then go further to the Haiyin Pool. It is a pond for releasing animals in a Zen temple. There are many red carps in the pond. In summer, the lotus flowers in the pond bloom very beautifully. There are three bridges on the pond, with stone benches on them. It feels great to sit on the bridges and enjoy the scenery. On the east side of the pond, the Yongshou Arch Bridge and its reflection between the white clouds and ancient trees have always been a film-killing scene. There is a screen wall in front of the bridge with five big characters "Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva" written on it. Many tourists take pictures here.

In front of the Haiyin Pond is the main building of Puji Temple. Along the central axis, there are Yuantong Hall, Sutra Library, Abbot Hall and other halls. On both sides of the main hall there are bell tower, drum tower, side halls, guest rooms and other buildings. The layout has some of the style of Qing Dynasty palaces.

Among them, the Yuantong Hall is the main hall of Puji Temple. "Yuantong" is another name for Guanyin Bodhisattva. It is Guanyin Bodhisattva enshrined here, which is equivalent to the Main Hall of an ordinary temple. In addition to its vast space and exquisite architecture, the unique feature of the Yuantong Hall is the male form of Guanyin and the 32 manifestations of Guanyin Bodhisattva, which are the forms in which the Bodhisattva appears in legend. You can burn some incense in the temple. Many people come here to pray every day.

The Duobao Pagoda on the southeast side of the temple is built with Taihu stones and can be viewed from a distance at the Haiyin Pond. The Xitian Scenic Area on the west side is a good place to watch the sunset, while the Baibusha Beach, more than 100 meters long on the east side, is a great place for swimming in summer.

Puji Temple was first built in the second year of Zhenming in the Later Liang Dynasty. In the 38th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign, it was renamed Puji Temple. It is the largest temple in Putuo Mountain, the main Taoist temple in Putuo Mountain, and the busiest place for people. It is the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

Baibu Sand is located on the seashore 100 meters east of Puji Temple, corresponding to Qianbu Sand in the north of Chaoyang Cave, hence the name Baibu Sand. There is a well-equipped beach here. You can swim in the summer and take a walk on the beach at other times. The scenery is especially beautiful at dusk. The sand at Baibusha is pure and the beach is beautiful. Due to the narrow beach, the sea here appears particularly docile due to the influence of the tide and direction. There is a vast sea area in front of the beach, and the beach is wide and flat. On summer nights, the cool sea breeze here attracts many tourists to take a walk and cool off.

Baibusha is close to Puji Temple and Zizhulin/Nanhai Guanyin scenic spots on Putuo Mountain. The sand is not very white, but very fine. In summer, many tourists come here to play in the water. There are also many restaurants around, and there are public toilets where you can simply wash your feet.

Zizhulin is located south of Baibusan and west of Chaoyin Cave, facing Lianhua Ocean and across the sea from Luojia Mountain. The rocks in the mountains are purple-red in color. When cut open, cypress leaves and bamboo leaf-like patterns can be seen, so they are called purple bamboo rocks. Later generations also planted purple bamboo here. There is Guangming Pond next to the purple bamboo forest, Guanyin Pavilion to the south, and Luojiashan Island can be seen on the opposite bank. In front of Zizhulin Temple is a vast cape valley where the sea and sky merge into one. It is a must-visit place for pilgrims who want to enjoy the view.

Purple Bamboo Forest is a less famous landscape at the foot of Mount Putuo. It is said that Goddess of Mercy once pointed at a white stone here and it turned into a purple bamboo forest. The Purple Bamboo Forest has become a famous tourist attraction because of this purple bamboo forest. In fact, it is a good choice to come here, blow the sea breeze and chat.

The 33-meter-high Nanhai Guanyin is the landmark of Putuo Mountain, located on the Guanyin Tiao Hill at the southern end of Shuangfeng Mountain. There are two floors inside the base of the statue. The first floor is the Merit Hall, where there are 20 portraits related to the legend of Guanyin Bodhisattva on the copper pillars, and 4 wood-carved murals, which are worth visiting. The Guanyin Hall on the second floor enshrines 500 purple bronze Guanyin statues with different shapes, which can be compared and visited.

On the second day in Putuo Mountain, I followed my friends to the 33-meter-high Nanhai Guanyin. The parking lot near there has been rebuilt for some time. Now the only way to get there is on foot. To walk from the hotel you have to go around the Puji Temple, which takes less than half an hour. You can take the hotel shuttle bus to the pier first, and then walk along the coast, which can save you ten minutes. The first half has a wide view, the road surface is flat, and there are not too many ups and downs, so it is easy to walk. Of course, there is still a short uphill slope at the end, but fortunately it is not difficult to walk. As we were pressed for time, we didn’t go to Zizhulin and Chaoyin Cave, and went directly to the foot of Guanyin. It was probably built in the past twenty years. It is solemn and dignified, but there is still a hint of commercial atmosphere in the temple. We walked around outside and saw some art academy graduates taking photos here, which was an unexpected bonus.

Shuangquan Zen Temple is located on the northeast foot of Xiangwang Peak in Putuo Mountain, west of Qianbusha. It was built by monk Zhenjing during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. It was rebuilt by the 14th generation grandson Guangxin during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu, the temple was rebuilt by Monk Yuanzong. In 1923, Seng Guangyin expanded the temple. There are 73 halls in total. It is said that not long after the temple was built and consecrated, during the recitation of the Avatamsaka Sutra, believers from all directions came to make pilgrimages. Due to the large number of people, there was a shortage of water. The monks prayed diligently, and soon twin springs gushed out from under the rocks beside the temple. The spring water was of high quality, clear and sweet. Everyone was amazed and marveled at the miraculous power of Guanyin Bodhisattva, so they called this temple "Shuangquan Temple".

Address: Northeast foot of Xiangwang Peak, Putuo Mountain, Putuo District, Zhoushan City (west of Qianbusha)

Opening hours: Please contact the attraction to confirm specific opening hours

evaluate:

Shuangquan Zen Temple is not big, with only one hall, and the morning prayers start later than in other large temples. But I personally like the environment here very much, it is quiet and exquisite. In addition, the conditions of the vegetarian restaurant here are also very good, the vegetarian food provided is also very delicious and the variety is also rich. After eating, I went to the sink outside to wash myself. After staying there for 2 nights, I felt a lot calmer.

Qianbu Sand is located on the east coast of Putuo Mountain. It is a sandy beach stretching from the northern foot of Jibaoling to the foot of Wanghai Pavilion, which is over a thousand meters long and is called Qianbu Sand. Qianbusha Beach is flat and wide, and the sand is very soft and clean, making it a great place to walk on the waves and watch the sea. Many tourists choose to come here after hiking and worshipping Buddha. They walk barefoot on the beach, feel the sea breeze and listen to the sound of the tide. They sit quietly on the beach for a while, and all the fatigue of the day disappears.

Address: Putuo District, Zhoushan City

Opening hours: 24 hours a day, all year round

Qianbusha is located on Fayu Road, Putuo Mountain, Putuo District, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province. It is the largest beach in Putuo Mountain, about 1,750 meters to 2 kilometers long. The sand is soft and fine, and the sand surface is wide and flat, making it an ideal place to walk on the waves and watch the sea. Geographical location and features: Located on the eastern coast of Mount Putuo. It starts from the north of Jibaoling in the south and extends northeast to Wanghaiting. There is a huge stone at the north end with the words "Listening to the Tide" inscribed on it. Chaoyang Cave at the junction of Baibusha is the best place to watch the sunrise in Putuo Mountain. Historical background: Qianbusha gave birth to Fayu Temple, the second largest temple in Putuo Mountain. In 1580, monk Dazhi Zhenrong built Haichao Temple on the beach. It later developed into a royal temple and was named Tianhua Fayu by Emperor Kangxi, and finally named Fayu Zen Temple. In 1924, Master Hongyi rewrote the four characters "Tianhua Fayu". Tourism resources: It is a good place for tourists to relax and get close to nature. It is suitable for barefoot walking, feeling the softness of the beach and the coolness of the sea water. The scenery is particularly charming in the early morning and dusk, making it a great place to take photos. As a Buddhist holy place, it is also a good place for meditation and relaxation. Many tourists come here to swim in summer, but the swimming facilities are not as complete as those in Baibusha. There are small crabs on the beach at night, which adds to the fun of playing. Surrounding attractions: The north end is not far from Fayu Temple. On the other side is the Jhanti Monastery. Standing on the beach, you can overlook the Nanhai Guanyin Buddha and the "Reclining Buddha on the Sea" on Mount Luojia. Qianbusha attracts many tourists for its beautiful natural scenery and rich historical and cultural connotations.

Fayu Temple, also known as the Back Temple, is located in the middle of Putuo Mountain Scenic Area. Its size is second only to the "Front Temple" Puji Temple, and it is one of the three major temples in Putuo. Fayu Temple is built on a mountainside and is built on a six-tiered platform. The entrance to the mountain gate is upgraded in order. On the central axis is the Hall of Heavenly Kings, followed by the Hall of Jade Buddha, with the Bell and Drum Tower between the two halls, and then the Hall of Guanyin, the Hall of Imperial Stele, the Main Hall, the Sutra Library, and the Abbot's Hall. There are many pilgrims coming here to worship every day. It is one of the temples that tourists who come to Putuo Mountain cannot miss.

We arrived at Putuoshan Island at noon, checked into the hotel first, and then hurried to Puji Temple. My friends were just trying to hurry and get to Fayu Temple before the sun sets. After coming out of Puji Temple, I passed by the Putuoshan Buddhist Museum. It was already closing time, so I greeted the guard, walked around the courtyard, and immediately rushed to take a minibus to Fayu Temple. The temples in Putuo Mountain only accept cash for incense coupons, and I saw that many children were not prepared. As I entered the mountain gate, the Nine Dragon Wall attracted my attention. I didn’t feel that there was anything special about the hall inside. All the temples are pretty much the same. It’s just that the sun has already started to set and the moon has already climbed up the branches. Fortunately, under the reflection of the sunlight, the yellow and red walls of the temple still blend perfectly with the environment. It's just that this temple should be very quiet, but there are too many people, so it's not suitable as a tourist attraction.

Huiji Temple is located on Foding Mountain in Putuo Mountain, also known as Foding Mountain Temple, one of the three major temples in Putuo Mountain. Huiji Temple has a unique architecture. It is built close to the mountain, with spacious and magnificent halls inside. The temple is hidden deep in the forest and is famous for its tranquility. In addition, because it is located on the top of the mountain, a platform in front of the temple is a good place to watch the sunrise and sunset.

Address: No. 1 Meicen Road, Putuo District, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, Putuo Mountain Scenic Area

Business hours: Open from 06:00 to 18:00 tomorrow

evaluate:

Huiji Temple was first built in the Ming Dynasty. I saw groups of people in front of the temple, kneeling down in worship in an orderly manner. The layout of Huiji Temple is adapted to the shape of the mountain. Behind the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Main Hall, the Hall of Great Compassion, the Sutra Library, the Jade Emperor Hall, the Abbot's Room, etc. are all on the same horizontal line. The entire temple is hidden deep in the forest and is known for its tranquility. Outside the temple there is a stone sculpture of Lu You who had been here. Walking up the Xiangyun Road stairs, you will see a huge square rock standing on the side of the road. On the rock face are four large characters "Hai Tian Fo Guo", which were written by Hou Jigao, a famous general who fought against Japanese invaders in the Ming Dynasty.
