# Historic landmark
Baolian TempleTongtian Pavilion is magnificent; vegetarian noodles are 15 yuan, it's up to you. Upon entering, I was awestruck by the grandeur of the complex. Each hall along the central axis is more imposing than the last, especially Tongtian Pavilion, which makes you quicken your pace just looking at it. Inside, the enormous indoor Buddha statue is truly breathtaking; it's said to be the tallest indoor Buddha statue in China. I craned my neck for a while, my neck ached, but I couldn't bear to look away. The entire space is solemn and dignified, with light streaming down from above, creating a sense of tranquility. The temple is very well maintained, with exquisite architectural details. The red walls and golden tiles against the blue sky and white clouds make for beautiful photos. Many angles make for stunning shots, especially the plaza in front of Tongtian Pavilion, where the contrast between people and architecture is striking. You can take a picture from any angle. The temple also offers vegetarian food, reasonably priced and with a light, clean flavor. It's very comforting to sit down and have a bowl of vegetarian noodles after a long day of walking. The souvenir shop also has nice souvenirs; I bought a bracelet, which is exquisitely crafted and reasonably priced. The entire temple tour takes about one and a half to two hours. The paths are flat and require minimal physical exertion, perfect for a leisurely stroll. The staff are very friendly and patiently answer any questions without pushing incense or other items. As for drawbacks, parking can be difficult on holidays, so it's recommended to arrive early or take a taxi. Also, the square gets quite sunny at midday with limited shade, so be sure to bring sunscreen. Given its free admission and comprehensive experience, Baolian Temple is definitely worth the trip. If you're only visiting one temple in Xuzhou, this is the one you won't regret.

Hubu Mountain is located in the south of the ancient city of Xuzhou and is also known as Nanshan. Hubu Mountain has been famous for a long time. As far as architecture is concerned, the buildings on Hubu Mountain include Xiang Yu's Ximatai, the courtyards of officials, gentry and wealthy families, the courtyards of the urban middle class and the large courtyards of ordinary people. Among them, Li Pan's Mansion as the Number One Scholar, Cui Tao's Mansion as the Hanlin Academy, and Zhai's Courtyard are more famous and relatively well preserved. These courtyards and ancient houses record the vicissitudes of Xuzhou City for thousands of years. They are a microcosm of Xuzhou's politics, economy, and culture during the Ming, Qing and Republic of China eras. More importantly, they are the remains of the ancient city of Xuzhou.

Xuzhou Hubu Mountain, formerly known as Nanshan, was named after the fact that the Hubu Division Office was moved to the mountain during the Ming Dynasty. It is a typical north-south fusion of buildings. It belongs to the most core area of Qili, Pengcheng. The earliest history can be traced back to when Xiang Yu built the Ximatai here to train his troops. There was a moonlight market recently and I saw many small stalls when I first went there.

Xuzhou Huilongwo Historical and Cultural DistrictA Time Capsule Hidden in the Heart of Xuzhou Stepping out of Xuzhou Station, the wind that hits you carries the lingering warmth of dust and coal ash. The sky is a faded, yellowish-brown, like an old, impressionistic painting, weathered by the smoke and fire of time. The buildings lining the streets aren't tall, but they possess a stubborn solidity, exuding an unyielding "we've always been this way." A sudden jolt goes through me; this is Xuzhou, a city that seems to have just crawled out of the blankets of history, a city yet to be properly cleansed. It's undeniably ancient, and its backwardness isn't necessarily a bad thing, like a distinguished retired veteran, adorned with medals, yet his steps are somewhat faltering. After dinner, I strolled aimlessly and stumbled upon Huilongwo. This stumble felt like falling into a crack in time. The outside world was yellowish and noisy, but here the air suddenly became still, as if I had entered a different realm. This isn't a tourist attraction; it's more like an old leather suitcase carefully hidden away, the lock rusted, but inside, it's exactly as it was decades ago. The alley is narrow, the bluestone slabs worn smooth by footsteps. The old houses on either side have foundations built of thick bluestone, the walls mottled with blue bricks, a few specks of moss growing in the cracks—not very green, just dark patches, like age spots on an old person's face, telling you that time has not been wasted here. The name "Huilongwo" (Returning Dragon's Nest) is brilliant; it's said that even the emperor himself had to navigate several turns to get out. Now, thinking back, it's not just because of the low-lying terrain; it's clearly because time has swirled here, unwilling to leave. A walk through Huilongwo will make you understand a principle: the depth of a city often lies not in how many skyscrapers it has, but in whether it still reserves a place for these "useless" old things. It's like a time capsule left behind in the bustling city; unless you step inside, you'll never know the tranquil serenity hidden within. Outside, Xuzhou remains the same slightly worn-out Xuzhou, but in my heart, it's no longer the same as when I first entered. After all, a city that can accommodate such an "old nest" is, at its core, elegant.

Xuzhou Museum is located at the northern foot of Yunlong Mountain. The original site was the palace of Emperor Qianlong during his southern tour in 1757. To the southwest of the museum are the remains of a Western Han Dynasty quarry, to the southeast are Qianlong's palace and stele garden, and to the north is the Tushan Han Tomb of the Eastern Han Dynasty. The museum is the core of this museum. It is said that "the culture of the Han Dynasty can be seen in Xuzhou", and the cultural relics unearthed from various Han tombs in Xuzhou are gathered in the Xuzhou Museum. The mere fact that you can see the gold-thread jade burial suit, silver-thread jade burial suit and bronze-thread jade burial suit at one time is enough to make cultural relic lovers ecstatic.

There are also many Han Dynasty jade, gold and other cultural relics. Xuzhou MuseumStepping into the "Heavenly Craftsmanship of Han Jade" exhibition hall, the dim lighting made it feel as if I had stepped into a Han Dynasty tomb. I went straight to the jade burial suit—it lay there, over 4,000 jade pieces strung together with gold thread, as smooth and new as ever. Looking closely through the glass, the jade pieces on the chest were wide, the joints intricately detailed like scales, perfectly conforming to the curves of the human body. But the thought that it had once encased a corpse, that the Chu king two thousand years ago had used jade to imprison the soul and seek immortality, sent a chill down my spine. Turning around, an S-shaped jade dragon caught my eye. Soaring and leaping, its lines both powerful and graceful, its body engraved with swirling cloud patterns, it seemed ready to burst through the wall at any moment. This dragon-shaped jade pendant, unearthed from the Chu king's tomb, was full of the romantic tension of Chu culture, a stark contrast to the serene jade burial suit—one imprisoning the soul, the other yearning for ascension. At the far end of the exhibition hall, the deep red lacquered coffin inlaid with jade made me stop in my tracks. The coffin was densely inlaid with diamond-shaped jade pieces, resembling dragon scales or a star map; the inner walls were coated with cinnabar, the red and white shimmering, a splendor bordering on the eerie. Imagine: the King of Chu, clad in a jade burial suit, lying in this "jade house," attempting to ascend to the celestial realm. From shrouding the body to carrying the soul, these three jade artifacts strung together a complete logic of ascension. Stepping out of the museum, the sunlight was blinding. I remembered that the tomb had ultimately been robbed, the gold threads pulled out, the jade pieces scattered. But the grand dream of the Han Dynasty remains firmly locked within these jade stones.
