The car was in relatively new condition, the interior was clean, picking it up was easy at the airport parking lot, returning the car was also easy, and getting the deposit back was simple too. Everything was great. Next time I have the opportunity to travel, I will rent a car from here again.

It was a pleasure renting with auto rental true leasing! They met us at the airport where they picked us up and drove few minutes to the office, signed paper paid 5000baht deposit and we were on our merry way. The car was clean the service was professional. The whole team are female and the greetings and smiles didn’t stop. We rented the car for 18 days and drove all around Phuket, then on to Krabi and back with no issues. Upon dropping off the car they let us keep our luggage and go for a massage and a coffee after which they drove us to the airport as we had a few hours to kill. I will definitely be renting from them again but maybe a slightly bigger engine as the mountain terrain really pushed the cars limit. Thank you again for making our Thailand trip smooth and safe.

This 8-day self-drive trip from Phuket to Krabi with Budget Car Rental completely changed my impression of car rentals in Thailand – highly recommended!
Ten years ago, I rented a car from AVIS in Phuket. When returning the car, I was deliberately harassed and made a mess of things for ages because I didn't tip. That terrible experience left me wary of car rentals in Thailand ever since. This time, I switched to Budget, a large international chain. The entire process was simple and smooth. The pick-up point is located on the first floor of the new arrivals hall at Phuket Airport, within walking distance. The paperwork was quick, and the staff were professional and polite. There was absolutely no demand for tips or deliberate harassment. Returning the car in Krabi was also hassle-free and efficient.
I rented a Toyota Corolla Altis compact sedan. The 5-seat space was more than enough for a family trip. The order included unlimited mileage, an extra driver (free), and a full tank for both pick-up and return, saving me a lot of extra expenses. Although the car had 110,000 kilometers on it, it was excellent to drive. On my drive to Emerald Lake in Krabi, I encountered a police checkpoint. They simply checked the seatbelts, verified everything, and let me through without any arbitrary fines or unwarranted harassment.
I genuinely believe that renting a car is essential when traveling with children in Southeast Asia. The local weather is hot and humid, making long walks unbearable. Motorcycles with children are unsafe, and storage space is limited. A sedan offers maximum freedom and is convenient for exploring the city or visiting inland attractions.
Here are three practical tips for those planning a self-driving trip in Thailand: Choose reputable international car rental companies like Budget; purchase full insurance; and drive slowly and cautiously on the road. Following these three points will greatly simplify your self-driving experience!
