Although the cruise ship was relatively small, the onboard activities were plentiful and of high quality. The food was decent, but there wasn't much Chinese food. After 14 days, I often felt unsure what to eat. The various attractions in New Zealand were all excellent. My main complaint was the disorganized management of the buffet restaurant. Meals were distributed by staff, but there were no instructions on how to queue, leading to frequent queue-jumping, which was very annoying! Additionally, the air conditioning controls in the bedrooms were outdated and couldn't be precisely adjusted, so I always felt like the air was blowing directly on my head while sleeping. The air conditioning was also quite noisy.

This was my first time booking a cruise trip using TripAdvisor; I had previously used other cruise OTAs. I saw a great deal on a cruise from Seattle to Tokyo's Royal Princess from September 19th to October 4th, 2026, offered by TripAdvisor. The process was very smooth, and they provided professional advice. The entire trip went smoothly. If I have any similar trips that interest me, I will definitely choose TripAdvisor first.

My first international cruise experience. Norvizen Cruises emphasizes a free-spirited atmosphere; the ship is relaxed and unpretentious. The complimentary main buffet restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes. The two complimentary à la carte restaurants have elegant ambiances and exquisite cuisine, making it completely unnecessary to spend money on other restaurants. The ship's service team is mostly composed of Southeast Asian staff, who are warm, friendly, and professional. There are many shore excursions, but they are relatively expensive. You can book local activities after disembarking, which is much cheaper. The cabins are not large, but they are clean and comfortable.

Auckland Transportation

Auckland is well-connected by air, with seamless transfers to the city center, and by bus or train from other cities in New Zealand. By Air: Auckland International Airport (AKL), approximately 20 km (12 miles) south of the city center, handles most international and domestic flights.   To City Center - SkyBus: This is a direct bus service that takes you from the airport terminals to the city center, with no stops in between. You can purchase tickets online or from the driver, but please note that only card payments and online bookings (QR code) are accepted. The travel time is approximately 40 minutes, but it's advisable to allow extra time during peak traffic hours. - AirportLink Bus: To reach various areas in Central, East, and South Auckland, take the orange AirportLink bus from the airport to Puhinui Station. From Puhinui Station, you can transfer to trains that operate on the Southern or Eastern Lines. The bus runs every 10 minutes from 4:30 AM to 12:40 AM, seven days a week. - Shuttles: Companies like Connexion offer shared shuttle services where you can be dropped off at your accommodation. Book online before arrival. - Taxis: Taxi ranks are located right outside the terminals. Metered taxis to the CBD cost NZ$75-100 (30-45 minutes, traffic-dependent), with airport surcharges (NZ$5-10). Pay with cash, credit/debit card, or apps like Co-op Taxi. Ride-Shares: Uber and Ola operate from designated zones at the International Terminal (Lane A, near Door 11) and the Domestic Terminal (a short walk, follow signs). Fares similar to taxis. By Train: To travel to Auckland by train, take the Te Huia train service from Hamilton, Waikato, which will arrive at The Strand station in Auckland. For scenic long-distance travel, you can use the Northern Explorer train service from Wellington; however, please note that overnight and daily services are not available. By Bus:  To travel to Auckland by bus from other parts of New Zealand, use InterCity, the national bus network. You can book tickets and check timetables on the InterCity NZ website. Buses arrive at the InterCity Sky City terminal located at 102 Hobson Street in Auckland City. Additionally, some services also stop at other locations in Auckland, such as Manukau and the airport.

Auckland Where to Stay

Queen Street, North Shore, and Auckland International Airport are notable among these regions, each offering distinct characteristics and amenities suited for different traveler types.

Auckland Best Time to Visit

Auckland’s location in the Southern Hemisphere means seasons are reversed from the North: summer (December–February) is warm for beaches but crowded, while shoulder seasons March–May (autumn) and September–November (spring) offer mild weather, festivals, and fewer tourists. June–August (winter) is cooler and wetter, great for indoor attractions. Spring (September–November): Temperatures range from 12°C to 20°C (54°F–68°F), with sunny days and blooming parks. Fewer crowds make it ideal for harbor cruises or hiking Rangitoto Island; occasional rain, but pleasant overall.   Summer (December–February): 18°C–25°C (64°F–77°F), sunny and warm with long days; events like the Auckland Anniversary Regatta (January). Peak season with higher crowds and prices—book 3-4 months ahead for festivals or Waiheke trips; perfect for beaches and outdoor dining.   Autumn (March–May): 15°C–22°C (59°F–72°F), mild and crisp with colorful foliage; events like the Auckland Arts Festival (March). Fewer tourists and moderate prices make it excellent for wine tours in Matakana or exploring museums.   Winter (June–August): 10°C–16°C (50°F–61°F), cooler and rainy with short days (9-10 hours); events like Matariki Festival (June). Lower crowds and prices; good for indoor attractions like the Auckland Museum or hot pools in Rotorua day trips.

Auckland Travel Tips

1. Check Weather and Conditions Before Beach Visits: Auckland’s weather can be unpredictable. Always check the weather forecast and the Safeswim website for water quality and swimming conditions before heading to beaches like Piha or Mission Bay to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. 2. Respect Maori Cultural Sites: When visiting sites of cultural significance to the Maori people, such as the Auckland War Memorial Museum, show respect and follow any posted guidelines. Avoid sitting on tables or placing bags on surfaces where food is served. Remove shoes before entering a Maori meeting house and do not eat before a blessing is given. 3. Greeting Etiquette: Kiwis are generally friendly and informal. A simple 'Hi' or 'Hello' is common. However, when meeting Maori people, a traditional greeting called a 'hongi' (nose press) may be used. If invited to participate in a hongi, gently press your nose and forehead against the other person's. It's a sign of respect and symbolizes the sharing of life force. 4. Be Cautious of Rip Currents: Auckland’s beaches, particularly on the West Coast, can have strong rip currents. Always swim between the flags and follow lifeguard instructions. If caught in a rip, remember to relax, float, and raise your hand for help. Recognize rips by looking for calm patches, discolored water, and deeper, darker areas. 5. Volcanic Field Awareness: Auckland is built on a volcanic field. While eruptions are rare, be aware of emergency procedures. Follow official advice from Civil Defence, stay informed through local authorities, and have an emergency plan. Know evacuation zones and keep emergency supplies ready. During ash fall, stay indoors and protect yourself from ash and gases. 6. Drone Regulations in Auckland: Drone use in Auckland is regulated. You can fly in most parks without a permit, but avoid cemeteries, regional parks, and certain landmarks. Always get permission to fly over private property. Follow Civil Aviation Authority rules and check for controlled airspace. Be courteous, keep your drone in sight, and fly only during daylight hours. 7. Strict Alcohol Laws: Auckland has strict laws regarding alcohol consumption. Drinking or carrying alcohol in public places is banned, with some areas having 24/7 restrictions. Temporary bans may apply during major events. Violating these bans can result in fines. Always check local rules and maps for designated liquor ban areas. 8. Strict Biosecurity Measures: New Zealand has strict biosecurity laws. Declare all food, plant, and animal products when entering the country. This includes items like wooden souvenirs and hiking boots. Failure to declare can lead to fines or prosecution. Use the New Zealand Traveller Declaration to declare risk goods and avoid penalties.

Frequently Asked Questions

You must carry a passport with an expiration date that meets the destination's requirements (usually valid for at least 6 months after the cruise ends; please refer to the actual boarding information), your cruise boarding pass (e-ticket or printed copy), and any visas required by all countries/regions on your itinerary. Depending on your nationality, other identification documents (such as a residence card or national ID card) may also be required. Please confirm the final requirements with the relevant embassies or consulates and the cruise line before departure.
Modern large cruise ships are equipped with advanced stabilizers and are routed to avoid rough seas, meaning most passengers never experience noticeable seasickness. If you are prone to motion sickness, consider booking a cabin on the mid-to-lower decks where movement is minimal. Other helpful tips include packing motion sickness medication, wearing anti-nausea wristbands, and getting fresh air on open decks. Note: Medication availability at the onboard medical center varies, so please check with your specific cruise line.
The vast majority of cruises automatically charge a fixed service fee to your daily cruise card account. For specific rates and collection methods, please refer to the information published by the cruise line after boarding. This fee typically covers basic gratuities for room service, dining staff, and more. Unless you wish to tip extra for exceptional service, additional cash tips are not required. We recommend consulting the cruise line's official guidelines when booking or after boarding.
Most international cruise lines use the US Dollar as their onboard currency. Upon boarding, you will link a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) to your cruise card. The ship operates on a "cashless" system, meaning all onboard purchases (dining, drinks, shopping, service fees) are charged directly to your account and settled at the end of the trip. While you don't need large amounts of cash on board, we recommend bringing some small bills (USD or local currency) for minor expenses and tips at ports of call.
Usually, within an hour after leaving port, your phone will connect to a maritime roaming network, which carries extremely high call and data roaming charges (often exceeding US$ 5/minute). We strongly advise putting your phone in Airplane Mode and relying solely on the ship's Wi-Fi. Most ships offer paid Wi-Fi packages. Purchasing a voyage-long package is generally much more cost-effective than paying by the day. Some luxury cruise lines include basic Wi-Fi in your fare.
Every international cruise ship is equipped with a medical center staffed by at least one internationally certified doctor and nurse. They are fully capable of treating common illnesses (colds, gastroenteritis) and minor injuries. Please note: Onboard medical care is quite expensive, and the pharmacy has limited stock. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with cruise medical coverage and packing an ample supply of any prescription or over-the-counter medications you regularly use.
After boarding, you must attend a mandatory safety drill (usually required to be completed within 24 hours). During the drill, you will hear the ship's dedicated alarm signal. Please immediately put on your life jacket (located in your cabin closet) and follow the evacuation route map on the back of your door to your designated assembly station. Please keep in mind: Do not use the elevators, follow the crew's instructions, and stay calm. Even if you have been on multiple cruises, you must participate in the drill on every new voyage. Please refer to the ship's on-site broadcasts and guidance for the specific signal and assembly location.
On the night before disembarkation, please follow the instructions issued by the cruise line to attach baggage tags to your checked luggage (excluding clothing, documents and valuables you will need the next morning) and place it in the designated area outside your stateroom door. Keep your passport, room key card and a small amount of carry-on belongings with you. On the day of disembarkation, please vacate your stateroom before the specified time and disembark in batches as notified. Do not linger in the stateroom. Finally, check all drawers, wardrobes and the safe. For the specific schedule and baggage requirements, please refer to the "Disembarkation Guide" provided by the cruise line.

Onboard the Disney Cruise Line: A Magical Voyage at Sea

Onboard the Disney Cruise Line: A Magical Voyage at Sea

#cruiseholiday Sailing with Disney Cruise Line was a dream come true! From the moment we stepped onboard, the ship was bursting with magic—character meet-and-greets, themed dinners, and Broadway-style shows that wowed us every night. The staterooms were comfortable and thoughtfully designed, and the service was truly exceptional. I loved the adults-only areas for some quiet time, while the kids were completely entertained at the clubs. Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island, was paradise with crystal-clear water and fun activities for all ages. Whether you're a Disney fan or just love relaxing, this cruise is pure joy from start to finish. Can’t wait to go again!

Dear friends, I just discovered an exclusive itinerary and I have to be the first to tell you!

Dear friends, I just discovered an exclusive itinerary and I have to be the first to tell you!

The Ritz-Carlton’s ultra-luxury yacht "Luminara" will sail directly from Hong Kong to Tokyo in March 2026, for 13 days and 12 nights. This is not an ordinary cruise ship; it’s a moving palace carrying only a few hundred guests. Imagine this: we board at sunrise in Victoria Harbour, staying in suites with panoramic terraces, with a private butler who has already prepared champagne. Every day, you wake up by the infinity pool to see the sea, and the butler even remembers how you like your coffee. It will take us to hidden islands that ordinary travelers can’t reach, hosting champagne parties on beaches open only to guests. The ship’s Michelin-starred chef’s restaurant changes its menu daily depending on the port. The best part is the spa facing the sea—this is the true meaning of "where the sea meets the sky." I’m so excited. It’s like a flowing feast—quiet, private, and every moment carefully attended to. In the spring of 2026, let’s completely indulge our time between the sea and the sky.

🇸🇬 Six Days, Five Nights Family Cruise Travel Guide

Honestly, this has been the most worry-free trip I’ve ever taken with kids. No need to do detailed research, no language barriers to worry about, no huge expenses, and still plenty of food and fun. Cruises are truly an ideal way to travel abroad with kids for the first time! Everyone can enjoy the joy of traveling on board. We started our journey with the Genting Dream cruise, which offers full one-stop service. Everything you need for food and fun is right there—you don’t need to plan anything in advance. 😎 Besides the water park, there are also free activities such as the Little Explorers kids’ club, mini golf, basketball courts, rock climbing, indoor and outdoor pools, jacuzzis, and more. Plus, you can enjoy a super🔥 Korean-style K-pop show and endless tropical fruit parties. On the cruise, every day is filled with music, food, and stunning views! #gentingdream #cruise #singaporecrusie #cruisefun #familytrip #travel #cruiselife

#springtravel Jinhae NFRDI Environment Eco-Park "For a break from the crowds, head to the Eco-Park near Yeojwacheon. In 2026, it’s a quiet sanctuary of ponds, weeping willows, and cherry trees. The reflections of the pink blossoms in the still water are beautiful. It’s where the locals go to have a quiet picnic. It’s only a 5-minute walk from the main stream but feels like a different world. It’s my favorite 'hidden' spot in the city."

Super Galaxy Cruise.

Super Galaxy Cruise.

I came to Bangkok for a date with my partner this time and booked a free experience tour. 🌌Super Galaxy Cruise🛳️ The entire experience was both romantic and packed with activities—it was such a steal! We spent the evening strolling around ICONSIAM and enjoying the river breeze before boarding at around 8:00 PM. We were blown away as soon as we stepped on board. The Super Galaxy Cruise is incredibly spacious, and the galaxy-themed lighting design is stylish with a futuristic vibe—perfect for photos! We enjoyed the 360-degree night view of the Chao Phraya River while feeling the cool breeze. Along the way, we passed the glowing Wat Arun, the Grand Palace, and the Rama VIII Bridge. Those landmarks, illuminated against the night sky, were breathtakingly beautiful. Watching them with my partner was so romantic. The buffet dinner depends on personal taste, but the seafood was fresh. The grilled giant prawns and salmon sashimi were delicious, and there were unlimited drinks. A live band played great music, and there were wonderful traditional Thai dances and cabaret shows in between. The atmosphere throughout the two-and-a-half-hour cruise was fantastic—there was never a dull moment! With stunning views, delicious food, and a wonderful atmosphere, it was truly an unforgettable romantic night for two.

"Carnival Splendor: The Ship That’s Like a Disco Fever Dream (With Unlimited Chocolate Melting Cake)

"Carnival Splendor: The Ship That’s Like a Disco Fever Dream (With Unlimited Chocolate Melting Cake)

#cruiseholiday Hold onto your glitter, because Carnival Splendor isn’t just a cruise—it’s a floating ‘70s revival where the pink zebra-striped decor is wild, the dessert menu never ends, and the party lasts all night. I just got back, and my inner diva is still recovering. Here’s the scoop: First Impressions: Stepping into the Atrium felt like walking into a disco ball explosion—pink glass elevators, neon lights, and the smell of Pinnacle Steakhouse’s sizzling filets 🥩 mixing with Swirls’ soft-serve vanilla. The vibe? “Saturday Night Fever meets all-you-can-eat.” The “This Ship is SO Extra” Moment: The Cloud 9 Spa’s thalassotherapy pool—a giant saltwater hot tub where I melted like the chocolate cake I’d later inhale. But the real hidden gem? El Mojito Bar’s spicy watermelon mojito (ask for extra chili salt!). 🌶️🍹 Foodie Glory: Chocolate Melting Cake ruined me for all other desserts (I ate it six nights straight). But the *24-hour* Pizza Pirate’s prosciutto pie? A drunken masterpiece. 🍕 My “Disco Never Dies” Itinerary: ⏰ 9 AM: Seaday Brunch with maple bacon pancakes (because balance). ⏰ 12 PM: Twister Waterslide (screamed like I was on American Idol). ⏰ 4 PM: Serenity Deck nap (with a Miami Vice in hand). ⏰ 8 PM: Pink Zebra Lounge karaoke (Dancing Queen = mandatory). ⏰ 12 AM: Robusto Bar’s cigar lounge (felt dangerously fancy). Pro Tip: Book the steakhouse on embarkation day—it’s half-price! Also, Lido Deck’s midnight nachos are a sinful must. 🌮 Final Verdict: 20/10, left sugar-drunk, slightly hoarse, and already planning my next glitter-filled escape. Who’s ready to splurge on Splendor? 💃
