The service on the Grand Princess cruise ship was excellent. From customer service staff and restaurant servers to cabin stewards, everyone was incredibly warm and polite. Restaurant staff were always there to ask if we needed help, and customer service staff were always very patient in explaining and resolving any issues. Special praise goes to our steward, Junie, who cleaned our room twice a day, ensuring we had a clean and comfortable environment to rest in. The only drawback was the lack of Chinese-speaking staff, which made me, a retiree who doesn't speak English, feel uncomfortable. Also, the Junemendenhall Glacier tour was too short; after visiting two waterfalls and Lake Mendenhall, it was time to reconvene, and we didn't even have time to watch the glacier documentary at the visitor center before boarding the bus. I hope the cruise line can offer Chinese-speaking staff in the future.

My first Antarctic cruise was relaxing and enjoyable. The Sapphire Princess cruise ship offered excellent service, with warm and attentive staff providing daily updates on the next day's cruise and various activities, ensuring the cruise was never boring. The onboard dining was also diverse and offered personalized service. We received hot milk and other necessities daily, along with fresh seafood, beef, and Western-style pastries and cakes. Various restaurants offered a wide selection for dinner, making for a wonderful and romantic cruise experience.

Our delightful Sapphire Princess cruise has come to an end, and it's truly hard to say goodbye. We spent Christmas 2025 on the cruise ship and also stepped into the new year 2026 aboard the Princess in Antarctica. Thank you to all the staff for their hard work in creating a joyful, peaceful, and warm atmosphere. Special thanks to the customer service department for their timely answers to my questions regarding Antarctic geography and scientific research. Thank you again!

Brisbane Brief Guide

Brisbane's subtropical charm revolves around the winding Brisbane River and lively South Bank precinct. Catch a ferry ride or meet koalas at Lone Pine Sanctuary for a taste of Aussie wildlife. Follow this guide to craft your itinerary, covering markets, museums, and riverside eats.

Brisbane Must-try local experiences

1. Climb for Iconic Views Brisbane's skyline shines from high perches like the Story Bridge and Kangaroo Point Cliffs, blending thrills with stunning river gazes. Tackle the Story Bridge Adventure Climb for a guided 90-minute ascent to 80 meters, offering 360-degree panoramas of the city, Moreton Bay, and twinkling lights on twilight tours. At Kangaroo Point Cliffs, hike easy riverside paths or try rock climbing on the sheer volcanic walls for close-up skyline shots at sunset. Both spots suit all levels, from casual walkers to adventurers. Pack your camera—these views capture Brisbane's urban-river magic. 2. Unwind at South Bank Riverside South Bank turns Brisbane's riverfront into a lively oasis of green spaces, art, and eats just steps from the CBD. Stroll the 17-hectare Parklands past man-made Streets Beach for a free swim, or picnic under fig trees with skyline backdrops. Dive into the Cultural Precinct for live shows at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) or casual gallery hops. It's a full-day spot for families or solo chill, blending relaxation with cultural buzz. 3. Encounter Wildlife at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, the world's first and oldest since 1927, lets you get hands-on with Aussie icons on its 18-hectare bushland site. Cuddle koalas, hand-feed kangaroos, or watch sheepdog trials amid over 100 koalas and 70 native species like wombats and dingoes. Join guided encounters for platypus spotting or bird-of-prey flights. This riverside haven, 20 minutes from the city, mixes education with adorable moments. 4. Cruise along the Brisbane River A Brisbane River cruise glides you past the city's highlights on calm waters, with easy 1-2 hour options from South Bank. Spot the Story Bridge's arches, Kangaroo Point Cliffs, and Howard Smith Wharves while hearing tales of colonial history and modern vibes. Add lunch for seafood platters or sunset sails for glowing reflections. It's a breezy way to see landmarks without the walk. Perfect for couples or first-timers seeking scenic ease. 5. Wander Brisbane Botanic Gardens Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mt Coot-tha spans 56 hectares of themed subtropical bliss, free and open daily from the city outskirts. Explore the Japanese Garden's serene ponds, Bamboo Grove's rustling paths, or Fragrant Plants area for sensory strolls. Catch planetarium shows on stars or join craft demos in the visitor center. Trails lead to wildflower spots and city views. This peaceful retreat is perfect for picnics or quiet escapes from urban hum. 6. Discover Art at QAGOMA Visit the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art on Brisbane’s South Bank to explore Australian, Indigenous, Asian, and international art. Most exhibitions are free, with changing contemporary displays, films, workshops, and family activities throughout the year. 7. Sample Craft Beers Brisbane's craft beer scene hops with innovative brews in converted warehouses and riverside taps. Head to Green Beacon in Teneriffe for hazy IPAs and lagers from Brisbane's first craft brewery, with wood-fired eats and sunny decks.  Nearby, Newstead Brewing Co. pours sours and stouts amid live music and trivia nights. Take a brewery trail for tastings and tours. These spots toast the city's relaxed, flavorful nightlife. 8. Shop Queen Street Mall Queen Street Mall buzzes as Brisbane's open-air retail heart, stretching 700 meters with 700+ stores from global chains to local gems. Browse QueensPlaza for Aussie designers like Gorman or Camilla, plus high-street hits like H&M. Grab souvenirs in arcades or street-side stalls, then hit rooftop bars for city sips. Weekends add buskers and food courts. It's a shopper's playground that blends fashion, food, and fun foot traffic.

Brisbane Must-see Attractions

Brisbane is a dynamic Australian city known for its lush South Bank Parklands, the historic Story Bridge, the grand Brisbane City Hall, the panoramic Wheel of Brisbane, and the scenic Kangaroo Point, offering a rich blend of cultural, historical, and recreational experiences.

Brisbane Food Guide

Brisbane's food scene is complemented by locally sourced Australian wines, particularly from the nearby Granite Belt region, celebrated for its unique terroir and cool-climate varieties like Shiraz and Chardonnay, which are enjoyed for their fresh and pure characteristics.

Brisbane Transportation

By air:  Brisbane Airport (BNE) is the main gateway for international and domestic travelers arriving in Brisbane. The airport is conveniently located just 20 minutes from the city center and serves as a major hub for flights across Australia, Asia, Oceania, and other international destinations. The Airtrain is the quickest way to get from the airport to the city. The service runs between the International and Domestic terminals and major stations in Brisbane's city center, including Central Station and Roma Street Station. By train Central railway station is a historic and principal station in Brisbane's CBD, offering access to various suburban and interurban lines. For a scenic, long-distance journey, the Queensland Rail network offers services connecting Brisbane with other major cities like Sydney.  By bus Long-distance coaches: Companies like Greyhound Australia operate long-distance services connecting Brisbane with other cities along the East Coast of Australia.

Brisbane Where to Stay

Brisbane is a vibrant city that offers a diverse range of accommodation options across its various neighborhoods. The city's lodging is spread across key areas, each with unique characteristics and conveniences for travelers. From the bustling Central Business District to the convenience of Brisbane Airport, visitors can find the perfect stay to suit their travel needs.

Brisbane Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Brisbane is during the shoulder seasons of autumn (March–May) and spring (September–November) for comfortable temperatures, lower humidity, and fewer crowds. Autumn offers clear skies and pleasant warmth, while spring showcases the city's blooming jacaranda trees and hosts major festivals.

Brisbane Travel Tips

1. Prioritize Sun Protection and Hydration Australia's sun is fierce, so slather SPF 50+ every two hours, even on cloudy days, and seek shade between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to dodge skin cancer risks. Brisbane's tap water is safe and fluoridated—carry a reusable bottle and refill at public fountains. For hikes in places like Mt Coot-tha, pack at least one liter per hour and tell someone your plans. These habits ensure you stay energized for all-day exploring. 2. Embrace Local Culture and Etiquette Aussies prize equality and chill vibes—greet with "G'day" or "How ya going?", queue fairly (no line-jumping), and skip tipping as it's built into prices; round up AUD$2-5 if service wows you. Honor Indigenous Turrbal and Yuggera lands with an Acknowledgment of Country at sites like South Bank, and support First Nations tours—avoid sacred site climbs and be sensitive during Sorry Business (mourning). Stay punctual and quiet in parks to blend in smoothly. 3. Beach and Water Safety Essentials Brisbane's swims are inviting, but read patrol flags—stick between red and yellow for safe zones, never swim alone, and skip unpatrolled spots to avoid rips. For river cruises or South Bank Beach, rinse off sunscreen to protect the ecosystem. Lifesavers are trained pros; if in trouble, float, signal, and yell. These rules keep water fun without frights. 4. Plan Around Major Events Brisbane's calendar packs a punch, with events like the Brisbane Festival in September featuring free arts shows, and the Brisbane International tennis in January. Book tickets and stays early, as crowds swell and prices jump 20-50%. Check Visit Brisbane for updates on NRL Magic Round in May or Ekka fair in August. Shoulder seasons (April-May, September-October) offer a balance of weather and fewer lines. Advance planning dodges chaos for smoother fun. 5. 6. Encounter Wildlife Responsibly From koalas at Lone Pine to birds in botanic gardens, Brisbane's critters thrill—keep a 10m distance from anything wild, don't feed or touch (fines are strict), and stick to paths to avoid snakes or spiders in bush areas. Guided sanctuaries are best for close-ups. This respect lets you enjoy without harm. 7. Stay Safe in the City: Crime and Scams Brisbane's low on petty crime, but be cautious of bags on trains (keep them front-facing) and avoid flashing valuables. Scams like fake taxis or overpriced tours are rare but do pop up in tourist hubs; use licensed rideshares like Uber and official apps for bookings. At night, stick to lit areas like Queen Street Mall. Simple vigilance ensures a stress-free urban jaunt. 8. Go Green in Queensland Plastic bags are banned, so bring reusables—ditch single-use items, use reef-safe sunscreen, and stay on trails to shield reefs and bush from erosion. Recycle at South Bank bins and pick up litter. Back eco-tours for positive impact. Little steps preserve Brisbane's wild side for all.

Brisbane Useful Guide

Brisbane, a multicultural hub, is primarily a place where English is spoken.

Frequently Asked Questions

You must carry a passport with an expiration date that meets the destination's requirements (usually valid for at least 6 months after the cruise ends; please refer to the actual boarding information), your cruise boarding pass (e-ticket or printed copy), and any visas required by all countries/regions on your itinerary. Depending on your nationality, other identification documents (such as a residence card or national ID card) may also be required. Please confirm the final requirements with the relevant embassies or consulates and the cruise line before departure.
Modern large cruise ships are equipped with advanced stabilizers and are routed to avoid rough seas, meaning most passengers never experience noticeable seasickness. If you are prone to motion sickness, consider booking a cabin on the mid-to-lower decks where movement is minimal. Other helpful tips include packing motion sickness medication, wearing anti-nausea wristbands, and getting fresh air on open decks. Note: Medication availability at the onboard medical center varies, so please check with your specific cruise line.
The vast majority of cruises automatically charge a fixed service fee to your daily cruise card account. For specific rates and collection methods, please refer to the information published by the cruise line after boarding. This fee typically covers basic gratuities for room service, dining staff, and more. Unless you wish to tip extra for exceptional service, additional cash tips are not required. We recommend consulting the cruise line's official guidelines when booking or after boarding.
Most international cruise lines use the US Dollar as their onboard currency. Upon boarding, you will link a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) to your cruise card. The ship operates on a "cashless" system, meaning all onboard purchases (dining, drinks, shopping, service fees) are charged directly to your account and settled at the end of the trip. While you don't need large amounts of cash on board, we recommend bringing some small bills (USD or local currency) for minor expenses and tips at ports of call.
Usually, within an hour after leaving port, your phone will connect to a maritime roaming network, which carries extremely high call and data roaming charges (often exceeding US$ 5/minute). We strongly advise putting your phone in Airplane Mode and relying solely on the ship's Wi-Fi. Most ships offer paid Wi-Fi packages. Purchasing a voyage-long package is generally much more cost-effective than paying by the day. Some luxury cruise lines include basic Wi-Fi in your fare.
Every international cruise ship is equipped with a medical center staffed by at least one internationally certified doctor and nurse. They are fully capable of treating common illnesses (colds, gastroenteritis) and minor injuries. Please note: Onboard medical care is quite expensive, and the pharmacy has limited stock. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with cruise medical coverage and packing an ample supply of any prescription or over-the-counter medications you regularly use.
After boarding, you must attend a mandatory safety drill (usually required to be completed within 24 hours). During the drill, you will hear the ship's dedicated alarm signal. Please immediately put on your life jacket (located in your cabin closet) and follow the evacuation route map on the back of your door to your designated assembly station. Please keep in mind: Do not use the elevators, follow the crew's instructions, and stay calm. Even if you have been on multiple cruises, you must participate in the drill on every new voyage. Please refer to the ship's on-site broadcasts and guidance for the specific signal and assembly location.
On the night before disembarkation, please follow the instructions issued by the cruise line to attach baggage tags to your checked luggage (excluding clothing, documents and valuables you will need the next morning) and place it in the designated area outside your stateroom door. Keep your passport, room key card and a small amount of carry-on belongings with you. On the day of disembarkation, please vacate your stateroom before the specified time and disembark in batches as notified. Do not linger in the stateroom. Finally, check all drawers, wardrobes and the safe. For the specific schedule and baggage requirements, please refer to the "Disembarkation Guide" provided by the cruise line.

"Carnival Splendor: The Ship That’s Like a Disco Fever Dream (With Unlimited Chocolate Melting Cake)

"Carnival Splendor: The Ship That’s Like a Disco Fever Dream (With Unlimited Chocolate Melting Cake)

#cruiseholiday Hold onto your glitter, because Carnival Splendor isn’t just a cruise—it’s a floating ‘70s revival where the pink zebra-striped decor is wild, the dessert menu never ends, and the party lasts all night. I just got back, and my inner diva is still recovering. Here’s the scoop: First Impressions: Stepping into the Atrium felt like walking into a disco ball explosion—pink glass elevators, neon lights, and the smell of Pinnacle Steakhouse’s sizzling filets 🥩 mixing with Swirls’ soft-serve vanilla. The vibe? “Saturday Night Fever meets all-you-can-eat.” The “This Ship is SO Extra” Moment: The Cloud 9 Spa’s thalassotherapy pool—a giant saltwater hot tub where I melted like the chocolate cake I’d later inhale. But the real hidden gem? El Mojito Bar’s spicy watermelon mojito (ask for extra chili salt!). 🌶️🍹 Foodie Glory: Chocolate Melting Cake ruined me for all other desserts (I ate it six nights straight). But the *24-hour* Pizza Pirate’s prosciutto pie? A drunken masterpiece. 🍕 My “Disco Never Dies” Itinerary: ⏰ 9 AM: Seaday Brunch with maple bacon pancakes (because balance). ⏰ 12 PM: Twister Waterslide (screamed like I was on American Idol). ⏰ 4 PM: Serenity Deck nap (with a Miami Vice in hand). ⏰ 8 PM: Pink Zebra Lounge karaoke (Dancing Queen = mandatory). ⏰ 12 AM: Robusto Bar’s cigar lounge (felt dangerously fancy). Pro Tip: Book the steakhouse on embarkation day—it’s half-price! Also, Lido Deck’s midnight nachos are a sinful must. 🌮 Final Verdict: 20/10, left sugar-drunk, slightly hoarse, and already planning my next glitter-filled escape. Who’s ready to splurge on Splendor? 💃

🇭🇰Pilot Star・The vitality of the sea

🇭🇰Pilot Star・The vitality of the sea

I sincerely want to share with you that taking a cruise is really a must-try experience because it is too good to shoot and too much fun! I've been on two cruises, and every time I post or feed, my friends go crazy and ask, "Is the cruise awesome? Is it fun?" And I always have one answer – cool! 🎉 Every morning when you open the curtains, you will see an endless sea🌊, the sky and the sea are connected by a line. That healing feeling can never be found in the city. You will feel completely relieved of the pressure. My mood immediately relaxed, as if even breathing was much fresher. In addition to the scenery, life on a cruise is exciting: 🍽️ Food, basically from morning to night, the restaurant has a lot of choice, Western food, Chinese food, buffet, as well as desserts and cocktails, can completely satisfy your taste buds. 🎶 For entertainment, there will be performances, concerts, dance shows, and even a casino at night. 🏊 For leisure, you can take a dip in the pool, sunbathe on the deck, or relax at the spa. Most importantly, whether you like to take pictures or enjoy a leisurely vacation, a cruise is sure to satisfy you. Many photos I took at random, straight out without filter, has been beautiful to be 📷 Even just for these few photos, the cruise is worth the trip! What’s more, you can still see the sea and eat while feeling the vitality and romance of the sea. This is an experience that no other mode of travel can match at all. ✨ So, if you want a truly relaxing and fulfilling journey, Look no further – cruises are a must-try! #CruiseFirstExperience #CruiseTravel #CruiseVacation #HongKongCruise #RitzCruise #RitzCruiseLeadingStar #Kai Tak Cruise Terminal #Seaview #LifePhotos
