The activities on the boat were quite good; the food, drinks, and entertainment were all enjoyable. The water slide was really fun, and I went on it many times. However, the food was more Westernized and not really suited to Chinese palates; it was best to consider it a short-term experience. As for shore activities, disembarking time was a problem. On the first day, it took over three hours to disembark. The Koh Samui itinerary was a day tour booked through Ctrip for 600 RMB, which was completely overpriced. The tour leader was practically useless, and the tour fee was a waste. The second day's itinerary on Redang Island was quite nice; the island isn't large, and you had free time after disembarking. You could also go diving at your own expense for 220 MYR.

Overall, the cruise was excellent. I was thrilled to receive a complimentary upgrade from an inside cabin to an ocean view cabin. The three-day, two-night trip included a visit to Malacca, where a free shuttle boat took us ashore and back to the ship. On a rainy day, the ship provided everyone with disposable raincoats. A few hours of free time were enough to explore the highlights of Malacca's old town. During mealtimes, you could only choose one restaurant, but it was enough to fill you up. The buffet restaurant had an ice cream machine and a wide variety of fruits, meats, and vegetables, but you had to queue for seating. The Chinese restaurant served set meals, also requiring a queue, but the food was decent. There were exciting theatrical performances every night, including many acrobatic shows and musicals featuring Broadway elements. If you didn't disembark, the ship offered a variety of activities and entertainment, including afternoon tea. Boarding in Singapore was very convenient; it was just a short walk from the MRT station to the cruise port. Overall, the cruise was cost-effective, comfortable, and time-saving; I would definitely come back again.

Overall, it was a good trip. The best part was the itinerary's timeline. We departed in the afternoon, disembarked at 9 am to explore Koh Samui, and stayed until 4 pm. We then spent another afternoon exploring Redang Island, before finally disembarking back in the afternoon. This itinerary avoided red-eye cruises, and the scenery on both islands was beautiful. The cruise line should definitely offer more cruises like this. I would definitely book again. The food was good, and the Broadway show on board was quite enjoyable. The downside was the long queues, probably due to the large number of passengers (around 5000). So, you need patience when eating or disembarking. If you're impatient, it's best to book a suite. Ctrip Cruises seems to offer relatively limited service on this route, as some information wasn't clear. For example, while Thailand requires an electronic arrival card, Redang Island doesn't, and you don't need to fill out or print one, which differs from the initial announcement. Otherwise, there were no other issues, and overall, I had a very enjoyable trip.

Melaka Brief Guide

Melaka is located in Malaysia on the Straits of Malacca. The city's history was deeply influenced by Zheng He’s voyages to the Western Ocean during the Ming Dynasty. It was successively colonized by Portugal, Holland, England, and Japan. Thus, the architectural style here is very diverse. In 2008, Malacca and Penang together became World Heritage Sites. All of the shops and residences throughout the old quarter of the city have been subsequently restored to their former glory, thus making this historical city a living museum.

Melaka Must-try local experiences

1. Journey through Melaka's Historic Heart Explore Melaka's UNESCO World Heritage Site, including Dutch Square, Church of Saint Paul, Malacca, and A'Famosa. Don't miss the Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum and the Muzium Samudera (Flor de La Mar) for a deep dive into the city's colonial history. 2. Cruise the Malacca River Enjoy a scenic boat ride along the Malacca River to admire colorful murals, historic buildings, and picturesque views. Choose a daytime or evening cruise for different experiences. 3. Discover Jonker Walk Melaka Stroll through Jonker Walk Melaka for antique shops, clothing stores, and vibrant night markets. It's a great place to shop for souvenirs and sample local street food. 4. Uncover the Magic of the Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum Visit the Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum to learn about the Peranakan culture, a blend of Chinese and Malay traditions. Admire the intricate architecture and antique furnishings. 5. Participate in Traditional Batik Painting Join a batik painting workshop to learn the traditional art of wax-resist dyeing and create your own batik masterpiece. 6. Sample Local Cuisine Try Melaka's famous dishes such as Chicken Rice Balls, Satay Celup, and Nyonya Laksa. Don't miss Cendol, a refreshing dessert. 7. Strike a Pose at the 'I Love Melaka' Sign Snap a classic tourist photo at the iconic 'I Love Melaka' sign near Dutch Square to commemorate your visit. 8. Capture the Beauty of the Kampung Hulu Mosque Take stunning photos of the Kampung Hulu Mosque, especially during sunset, for a picturesque view against the Straits of Melaka. 9. Photograph the Colorful Street Art Explore vibrant street art around Melaka, especially along the Melaka River and Jonker Walk Melaka, for excellent photo opportunities.

Melaka Must-see Attractions

Melaka, a city steeped in history, offers a rich tapestry of cultural and historical attractions, from the iconic red Stadthuys and bustling Jonker Street to the strategic Malacca Strait, the rejuvenated Malacca River, and the ancient ruins of St. Paul's Church, each telling the story of the region's diverse colonial and maritime heritage.

Melaka Transportation

Melaka's transportation infrastructure is centered around its bus terminal and railway station, which are crucial for intercity travel. Melaka Sentral Bus Terminal is the primary hub for long-distance bus services in Malacca, connecting the city to various destinations within Malaysia and Singapore. Located in the Peringgit district, it's a short drive from the historical center of Malacca. To reach the city from Melaka Sentral, travelers can take a taxi from the coupon taxi stand or use local buses. The terminal itself offers a range of amenities, including ticket counters, food outlets, and shops. Batang Melaka Railway Station, on the other hand, serves as one of the two railway stations in the state of Melaka. It was rebuilt in 2013 and began operations in 2014, offering facilities such as free parking and disabled access. The station is accessible via the KTM Electric Train Service (ETS) and Intercity South Main Line train services, with ETS covering long-distance routes and intercity trains traveling between JB Sentral and Tampin. Travelers can reach Batang Melaka Railway Station by boarding either the ETS or intercity train services.

Melaka Where to Stay

Melaka, also known as Malacca, is a city steeped in history and culture, offering travelers a rich tapestry of experiences. The city's accommodation is spread across several key areas, each with its own unique charm and convenience for visitors.

Melaka Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Melaka is during the dry months of April, May, and October. During these months, the weather is hot and humid but with less rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the city's rich cultural heritage and outdoor activities. April and May fall within the shoulder season, offering warm days without excessive rain or heat, perfect for sightseeing and attending outdoor festivals. October is also favorable as it sees the least rainfall on average, allowing visitors to enjoy the city without rain interrupting their plans.

Melaka Travel Tips

1. Ramadan Considerations: If visiting during Ramadan, be respectful by not eating, drinking, or smoking in public during daylight hours. Many restaurants may have altered hours, so plan accordingly. 2. Beware of Heatstroke: Melaka's hot and humid climate can lead to heatstroke. Stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and take breaks in air-conditioned spaces. Avoid sugary or alcoholic drinks, and be cautious of sunburn. Know the symptoms and seek medical help if needed. 3. Watch for Monkeys: Monkeys are common in some areas, especially near St. Paul's Hill. Keep food out of sight and don't feed them, as they can become aggressive. Secure your belongings to prevent theft. They are known to snatch bags and food items from visitors. 4. Tipping Not Expected: Tipping is not customary in Melaka. Most restaurants include a service charge in the bill. However, if you receive exceptional service, a small tip will be appreciated but not expected.

Melaka Useful Guide

Melaka, a Malaysian state, is linguistically diverse. The official language is Malay, but English, Mandarin, and various Chinese dialects are also spoken, with Hokkien being prominent. The Peranakan community speaks Baba Malay, a creole with Hokkien influences, while the Portuguese Eurasian community uses Kristang, a Portuguese-based creole. Multilingualism is common due to the state's cultural diversity, with influences from historical occupations and migrations. When facing language barriers, travelers can use translation apps or rely on non-verbal communication like gestures.

Frequently Asked Questions

You must carry a passport with an expiration date that meets the destination's requirements (usually valid for at least 6 months after the cruise ends; please refer to the actual boarding information), your cruise boarding pass (e-ticket or printed copy), and any visas required by all countries/regions on your itinerary. Depending on your nationality, other identification documents (such as a residence card or national ID card) may also be required. Please confirm the final requirements with the relevant embassies or consulates and the cruise line before departure.
Modern large cruise ships are equipped with advanced stabilizers and are routed to avoid rough seas, meaning most passengers never experience noticeable seasickness. If you are prone to motion sickness, consider booking a cabin on the mid-to-lower decks where movement is minimal. Other helpful tips include packing motion sickness medication, wearing anti-nausea wristbands, and getting fresh air on open decks. Note: Medication availability at the onboard medical center varies, so please check with your specific cruise line.
The vast majority of cruises automatically charge a fixed service fee to your daily cruise card account. For specific rates and collection methods, please refer to the information published by the cruise line after boarding. This fee typically covers basic gratuities for room service, dining staff, and more. Unless you wish to tip extra for exceptional service, additional cash tips are not required. We recommend consulting the cruise line's official guidelines when booking or after boarding.
Most international cruise lines use the US Dollar as their onboard currency. Upon boarding, you will link a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) to your cruise card. The ship operates on a "cashless" system, meaning all onboard purchases (dining, drinks, shopping, service fees) are charged directly to your account and settled at the end of the trip. While you don't need large amounts of cash on board, we recommend bringing some small bills (USD or local currency) for minor expenses and tips at ports of call.
Usually, within an hour after leaving port, your phone will connect to a maritime roaming network, which carries extremely high call and data roaming charges (often exceeding US$ 5/minute). We strongly advise putting your phone in Airplane Mode and relying solely on the ship's Wi-Fi. Most ships offer paid Wi-Fi packages. Purchasing a voyage-long package is generally much more cost-effective than paying by the day. Some luxury cruise lines include basic Wi-Fi in your fare.
Every international cruise ship is equipped with a medical center staffed by at least one internationally certified doctor and nurse. They are fully capable of treating common illnesses (colds, gastroenteritis) and minor injuries. Please note: Onboard medical care is quite expensive, and the pharmacy has limited stock. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with cruise medical coverage and packing an ample supply of any prescription or over-the-counter medications you regularly use.
After boarding, you must attend a mandatory safety drill (usually required to be completed within 24 hours). During the drill, you will hear the ship's dedicated alarm signal. Please immediately put on your life jacket (located in your cabin closet) and follow the evacuation route map on the back of your door to your designated assembly station. Please keep in mind: Do not use the elevators, follow the crew's instructions, and stay calm. Even if you have been on multiple cruises, you must participate in the drill on every new voyage. Please refer to the ship's on-site broadcasts and guidance for the specific signal and assembly location.
On the night before disembarkation, please follow the instructions issued by the cruise line to attach baggage tags to your checked luggage (excluding clothing, documents and valuables you will need the next morning) and place it in the designated area outside your stateroom door. Keep your passport, room key card and a small amount of carry-on belongings with you. On the day of disembarkation, please vacate your stateroom before the specified time and disembark in batches as notified. Do not linger in the stateroom. Finally, check all drawers, wardrobes and the safe. For the specific schedule and baggage requirements, please refer to the "Disembarkation Guide" provided by the cruise line.

"Carnival Splendor: The Ship That’s Like a Disco Fever Dream (With Unlimited Chocolate Melting Cake)

"Carnival Splendor: The Ship That’s Like a Disco Fever Dream (With Unlimited Chocolate Melting Cake)

#cruiseholiday Hold onto your glitter, because Carnival Splendor isn’t just a cruise—it’s a floating ‘70s revival where the pink zebra-striped decor is wild, the dessert menu never ends, and the party lasts all night. I just got back, and my inner diva is still recovering. Here’s the scoop: First Impressions: Stepping into the Atrium felt like walking into a disco ball explosion—pink glass elevators, neon lights, and the smell of Pinnacle Steakhouse’s sizzling filets 🥩 mixing with Swirls’ soft-serve vanilla. The vibe? “Saturday Night Fever meets all-you-can-eat.” The “This Ship is SO Extra” Moment: The Cloud 9 Spa’s thalassotherapy pool—a giant saltwater hot tub where I melted like the chocolate cake I’d later inhale. But the real hidden gem? El Mojito Bar’s spicy watermelon mojito (ask for extra chili salt!). 🌶️🍹 Foodie Glory: Chocolate Melting Cake ruined me for all other desserts (I ate it six nights straight). But the *24-hour* Pizza Pirate’s prosciutto pie? A drunken masterpiece. 🍕 My “Disco Never Dies” Itinerary: ⏰ 9 AM: Seaday Brunch with maple bacon pancakes (because balance). ⏰ 12 PM: Twister Waterslide (screamed like I was on American Idol). ⏰ 4 PM: Serenity Deck nap (with a Miami Vice in hand). ⏰ 8 PM: Pink Zebra Lounge karaoke (Dancing Queen = mandatory). ⏰ 12 AM: Robusto Bar’s cigar lounge (felt dangerously fancy). Pro Tip: Book the steakhouse on embarkation day—it’s half-price! Also, Lido Deck’s midnight nachos are a sinful must. 🌮 Final Verdict: 20/10, left sugar-drunk, slightly hoarse, and already planning my next glitter-filled escape. Who’s ready to splurge on Splendor? 💃

🇭🇰Pilot Star・The vitality of the sea

🇭🇰Pilot Star・The vitality of the sea

I sincerely want to share with you that taking a cruise is really a must-try experience because it is too good to shoot and too much fun! I've been on two cruises, and every time I post or feed, my friends go crazy and ask, "Is the cruise awesome? Is it fun?" And I always have one answer – cool! 🎉 Every morning when you open the curtains, you will see an endless sea🌊, the sky and the sea are connected by a line. That healing feeling can never be found in the city. You will feel completely relieved of the pressure. My mood immediately relaxed, as if even breathing was much fresher. In addition to the scenery, life on a cruise is exciting: 🍽️ Food, basically from morning to night, the restaurant has a lot of choice, Western food, Chinese food, buffet, as well as desserts and cocktails, can completely satisfy your taste buds. 🎶 For entertainment, there will be performances, concerts, dance shows, and even a casino at night. 🏊 For leisure, you can take a dip in the pool, sunbathe on the deck, or relax at the spa. Most importantly, whether you like to take pictures or enjoy a leisurely vacation, a cruise is sure to satisfy you. Many photos I took at random, straight out without filter, has been beautiful to be 📷 Even just for these few photos, the cruise is worth the trip! What’s more, you can still see the sea and eat while feeling the vitality and romance of the sea. This is an experience that no other mode of travel can match at all. ✨ So, if you want a truly relaxing and fulfilling journey, Look no further – cruises are a must-try! #CruiseFirstExperience #CruiseTravel #CruiseVacation #HongKongCruise #RitzCruise #RitzCruiseLeadingStar #Kai Tak Cruise Terminal #Seaview #LifePhotos
