This was my first time booking a cruise trip using TripAdvisor; I had previously used other cruise OTAs. I saw a great deal on a cruise from Seattle to Tokyo's Royal Princess from September 19th to October 4th, 2026, offered by TripAdvisor. The process was very smooth, and they provided professional advice. The entire trip went smoothly. If I have any similar trips that interest me, I will definitely choose TripAdvisor first.

The Ultimate Cruises is indeed excellent, with facilities and dining options surpassing those of other cruise ships. The only drawback is the poor organization of shore excursions. Our three excursions were either rushed and disorganized, forcing us to cut important itineraries, or we were asked to depart as early as 7 AM, only to find ourselves with nothing to do by 1 PM, spending the entire afternoon back on the ship. This aspect needs improvement.

My first international cruise experience. Norvizen Cruises emphasizes a free-spirited atmosphere; the ship is relaxed and unpretentious. The complimentary main buffet restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes. The two complimentary à la carte restaurants have elegant ambiances and exquisite cuisine, making it completely unnecessary to spend money on other restaurants. The ship's service team is mostly composed of Southeast Asian staff, who are warm, friendly, and professional. There are many shore excursions, but they are relatively expensive. You can book local activities after disembarking, which is much cheaper. The cabins are not large, but they are clean and comfortable.

Sydney Must-see Attractions

Sydney is a vibrant city renowned for its iconic Sydney Opera House, diverse wildlife at Taronga Zoo, the bustling Circular Quay, the aquatic wonders of SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, and the entertainment-rich Darling Harbour, each offering unique experiences and cultural significance.

Sydney Food Guide

Sydney's food scene is renowned for its distinctive offerings like the celebrated Sydney Rock Oyster, known for its unique flavor profile and significant contribution to the local economy, and kangaroo meat, which is both a sustainable and nutritious option, though it faces cultural hesitancy among some Australians.

Sydney Transportation

Sydney, a major global hub, is accessible by air, train, bus, or sea, with efficient connections to its city center. By Air  Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD), 8 km (5 miles) south of the city, is Australia’s main gateway, serving domestic and international airlines. Direct flights connect from North America, Asia, Europe, and the Pacific.  To City Center: - Airport Link Train: Fastest option to Central Station or Circular Quay. Runs frequently between 5:00 AM and 12:30 AM. Pay via Opal card or contactless payment (debit/credit card). - Taxis/Ride-Hailing: Taxi ranks are located at the front of all terminals. For ride-shares, arrange with the driver to meet at a designated pick-up area. Expect to pay between $45 and $55 AUD.  - Public Bus: Sydney Airport is served by several bus routes. Route 350 connects the Domestic Terminal to Bondi Junction via Mascot, Maroubra, and Coogee. Route 420 links Burwood to Mascot Station, serving both terminals. The late-night Route N20 runs between Riverwood and the City via the International Terminal.  By Train Central Station connects Sydney with other hubs like Melbourne and Brisbane. Train travel is affordable but slow.  By Bus Greyhound and Firefly Express serve routes from Melbourne or Canberra to Central Station. By Ferry/Cruise Sydney’s Port of Circular Quay or White Bay receives cruise ships from New Zealand and some Pacific islands.

Sydney Where to Stay

Sydney is a vibrant city with a diverse range of accommodation options spread across its iconic neighborhoods. The city's lodging is concentrated in key areas, each offering unique experiences and amenities for travelers.

Sydney Best Time to Visit

Sydney’s temperate climate makes it a year-round destination. As Sydney is in the Southern Hemisphere, its summer aligns with Northern Hemisphere winter (December-February), and its winter corresponds to Northern Hemisphere summer (June-August). Late spring (October to early November) is the best time to visit Sydney. Spring (September-November): Mild temperatures (15-22°C) and blooming jacarandas in Kirribilli create picturesque settings for exploring the Royal Botanic Garden or the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. Crowds are moderate, and hotel prices are reasonable. Ideal for outdoor activities with fewer tourists than in peak season. Summer (December-February): Warm and humid (22-28°C), perfect for Bondi and Manly beaches, but peak season brings large crowds and higher prices. Major events like the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race (December 26) and New Year’s Eve fireworks at the Harbour Bridge attract millions, requiring bookings 3-4 months in advance. Expect occasional summer storms; pack sunscreen and light clothing. Autumn (March-May): Pleasant (18-25°C) with clear skies, ideal for climbing the Harbour Bridge or ferry rides to Watsons Bay. Crowds thin out, and hotels are slightly cheaper than in summer. Sydney Mardi Gras (February-March) adds vibrant energy with parades and parties. Less humidity makes it comfortable for city walks. Winter (June-August): Cool (10-18°C) and quieter, with budget-friendly hotel rates. Whale-watching cruises (June-July) to spot humpbacks and the Sydney Film Festival (June) offer unique experiences.

Sydney Travel Tips

1. Book Sydney Opera House Tours in Advance: To avoid disappointment, it's best to book your Sydney Opera House tours and performances well in advance as they often sell out quickly, especially during peak season. Tours are subject to availability, and booking ahead ensures you get your preferred time slot and avoid missing out due to rehearsals or performances. 2. Rip Current Awareness: Be aware of rip currents at beaches. If caught in one, stay calm, float, and signal for help. Don't try to swim against the current. Swim parallel to the shore to escape, and look for signs like deeper, darker water or fewer breaking waves to spot rips. 3. Wildlife Caution: Respect wildlife and keep a safe distance. Don't feed wild animals, and be cautious of potentially dangerous creatures like jellyfish and snakes. Wear protective clothing, stay on designated paths, and avoid driving at dawn or dusk to prevent wildlife accidents. 4. Strict Anti-Littering Laws: Sydney has strict anti-littering laws with heavy fines. Always dispose of your rubbish properly and use recycling bins where available. Fines can be issued for littering small items, with higher penalties for dangerous materials or larger quantities. Non-compliance with clean-up notices can also result in significant penalties.

Sydney Useful Guide

English is the official language, spoken universally across Sydney with an Australian accent.

Frequently Asked Questions

You must carry a passport with an expiration date that meets the destination's requirements (usually valid for at least 6 months after the cruise ends; please refer to the actual boarding information), your cruise boarding pass (e-ticket or printed copy), and any visas required by all countries/regions on your itinerary. Depending on your nationality, other identification documents (such as a residence card or national ID card) may also be required. Please confirm the final requirements with the relevant embassies or consulates and the cruise line before departure.
Modern large cruise ships are equipped with advanced stabilizers and are routed to avoid rough seas, meaning most passengers never experience noticeable seasickness. If you are prone to motion sickness, consider booking a cabin on the mid-to-lower decks where movement is minimal. Other helpful tips include packing motion sickness medication, wearing anti-nausea wristbands, and getting fresh air on open decks. Note: Medication availability at the onboard medical center varies, so please check with your specific cruise line.
The vast majority of cruises automatically charge a fixed service fee to your daily cruise card account. For specific rates and collection methods, please refer to the information published by the cruise line after boarding. This fee typically covers basic gratuities for room service, dining staff, and more. Unless you wish to tip extra for exceptional service, additional cash tips are not required. We recommend consulting the cruise line's official guidelines when booking or after boarding.
Most international cruise lines use the US Dollar as their onboard currency. Upon boarding, you will link a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) to your cruise card. The ship operates on a "cashless" system, meaning all onboard purchases (dining, drinks, shopping, service fees) are charged directly to your account and settled at the end of the trip. While you don't need large amounts of cash on board, we recommend bringing some small bills (USD or local currency) for minor expenses and tips at ports of call.
Usually, within an hour after leaving port, your phone will connect to a maritime roaming network, which carries extremely high call and data roaming charges (often exceeding US$ 5/minute). We strongly advise putting your phone in Airplane Mode and relying solely on the ship's Wi-Fi. Most ships offer paid Wi-Fi packages. Purchasing a voyage-long package is generally much more cost-effective than paying by the day. Some luxury cruise lines include basic Wi-Fi in your fare.
Every international cruise ship is equipped with a medical center staffed by at least one internationally certified doctor and nurse. They are fully capable of treating common illnesses (colds, gastroenteritis) and minor injuries. Please note: Onboard medical care is quite expensive, and the pharmacy has limited stock. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with cruise medical coverage and packing an ample supply of any prescription or over-the-counter medications you regularly use.
After boarding, you must attend a mandatory safety drill (usually required to be completed within 24 hours). During the drill, you will hear the ship's dedicated alarm signal. Please immediately put on your life jacket (located in your cabin closet) and follow the evacuation route map on the back of your door to your designated assembly station. Please keep in mind: Do not use the elevators, follow the crew's instructions, and stay calm. Even if you have been on multiple cruises, you must participate in the drill on every new voyage. Please refer to the ship's on-site broadcasts and guidance for the specific signal and assembly location.
On the night before disembarkation, please follow the instructions issued by the cruise line to attach baggage tags to your checked luggage (excluding clothing, documents and valuables you will need the next morning) and place it in the designated area outside your stateroom door. Keep your passport, room key card and a small amount of carry-on belongings with you. On the day of disembarkation, please vacate your stateroom before the specified time and disembark in batches as notified. Do not linger in the stateroom. Finally, check all drawers, wardrobes and the safe. For the specific schedule and baggage requirements, please refer to the "Disembarkation Guide" provided by the cruise line.

"Carnival Splendor: The Ship That’s Like a Disco Fever Dream (With Unlimited Chocolate Melting Cake)

"Carnival Splendor: The Ship That’s Like a Disco Fever Dream (With Unlimited Chocolate Melting Cake)

#cruiseholiday Hold onto your glitter, because Carnival Splendor isn’t just a cruise—it’s a floating ‘70s revival where the pink zebra-striped decor is wild, the dessert menu never ends, and the party lasts all night. I just got back, and my inner diva is still recovering. Here’s the scoop: First Impressions: Stepping into the Atrium felt like walking into a disco ball explosion—pink glass elevators, neon lights, and the smell of Pinnacle Steakhouse’s sizzling filets 🥩 mixing with Swirls’ soft-serve vanilla. The vibe? “Saturday Night Fever meets all-you-can-eat.” The “This Ship is SO Extra” Moment: The Cloud 9 Spa’s thalassotherapy pool—a giant saltwater hot tub where I melted like the chocolate cake I’d later inhale. But the real hidden gem? El Mojito Bar’s spicy watermelon mojito (ask for extra chili salt!). 🌶️🍹 Foodie Glory: Chocolate Melting Cake ruined me for all other desserts (I ate it six nights straight). But the *24-hour* Pizza Pirate’s prosciutto pie? A drunken masterpiece. 🍕 My “Disco Never Dies” Itinerary: ⏰ 9 AM: Seaday Brunch with maple bacon pancakes (because balance). ⏰ 12 PM: Twister Waterslide (screamed like I was on American Idol). ⏰ 4 PM: Serenity Deck nap (with a Miami Vice in hand). ⏰ 8 PM: Pink Zebra Lounge karaoke (Dancing Queen = mandatory). ⏰ 12 AM: Robusto Bar’s cigar lounge (felt dangerously fancy). Pro Tip: Book the steakhouse on embarkation day—it’s half-price! Also, Lido Deck’s midnight nachos are a sinful must. 🌮 Final Verdict: 20/10, left sugar-drunk, slightly hoarse, and already planning my next glitter-filled escape. Who’s ready to splurge on Splendor? 💃

🇭🇰Pilot Star・The vitality of the sea

I sincerely want to share with you that taking a cruise is really a must-try experience because it is too good to shoot and too much fun! I've been on two cruises, and every time I post or feed, my friends go crazy and ask, "Is the cruise awesome? Is it fun?" And I always have one answer – cool! 🎉 Every morning when you open the curtains, you will see an endless sea🌊, the sky and the sea are connected by a line. That healing feeling can never be found in the city. You will feel completely relieved of the pressure. My mood immediately relaxed, as if even breathing was much fresher. In addition to the scenery, life on a cruise is exciting: 🍽️ Food, basically from morning to night, the restaurant has a lot of choice, Western food, Chinese food, buffet, as well as desserts and cocktails, can completely satisfy your taste buds. 🎶 For entertainment, there will be performances, concerts, dance shows, and even a casino at night. 🏊 For leisure, you can take a dip in the pool, sunbathe on the deck, or relax at the spa. Most importantly, whether you like to take pictures or enjoy a leisurely vacation, a cruise is sure to satisfy you. Many photos I took at random, straight out without filter, has been beautiful to be 📷 Even just for these few photos, the cruise is worth the trip! What’s more, you can still see the sea and eat while feeling the vitality and romance of the sea. This is an experience that no other mode of travel can match at all. ✨ So, if you want a truly relaxing and fulfilling journey, Look no further – cruises are a must-try! #CruiseFirstExperience #CruiseTravel #CruiseVacation #HongKongCruise #RitzCruise #RitzCruiseLeadingStar #Kai Tak Cruise Terminal #Seaview #LifePhotos
