Join us for some Mickey & Minnie cookie fun, and learn a few royal icing skills along the way! Whether you're looking for an introduction to royal icing cookie decorating, or a special activity to do with friends, this is the class for you! I'll walk you through different techniques and tips on how to outline, flood and detail some of my favourite cookie designs with my weapon of choice - royal icing! At the end of the class, you'll leave with not only your beautifully decorated cookies but also newfound skills and techniques that you can apply to your future baking endeavors. Whether you plan to impress your loved ones, find out if cookie decorating is for you, or just enjoy a fun little Valentines treat, this class promises to be an unforgettable experience. Arrive to a glass of bubbly (OJ for the U18's of course!) and a sweet treat, and spend the next couple of hours indulging in a little sweet escape. We'll provide everything you need - the cookies, the icing, the tools, and a box for taking those yummy cookies home in and showing them off to the rest of the family! Come along by yourself, with your bestie, or even make it a date! The class is for over 10's only, but don't worry, if you have under 10's that would love to get involved, you can order a take-away kit and have a fun time at home teaching them everything you learned in the class, I'll even send you the powerpoint presentation to follow step-by-step! You'll leave with an understanding of the basics of sugar cookie decorating, your decorated cookies, plus goodies to take home, including my cookie & royal icing recipes, a cookie cutter & a little gift from me! The class will be held in the Activation Suite at the Village Hotel on Forstal Road. Discover how to recognise our native ferns using leaf shapes and other distinctive features. Ferns thrive best in the secluded half-light of damp woodlands. They are particularly common in the west of Britain where they are abundant even along the hedge banks which remain damp for a large part of the year. This course is an introduction to the basic structure of ferns and their unusual life cycle. The morning will be spent in the classroom at Tyland Barn where the main focus will be on identification, especially those features used to identify the different species. The course will start with a practical indoor introduction after which we will travel (shared transport where possible) to the south side of Maidstone to visit a few field sites, including Quarry Wood. By the end of the day it is expected that participants: will feel confident in identifying most of our common woodland ferns as well as those found on rocks and stones. will know the key differences between the major genera and species and be able to apply these to specimens found in the field. These will mostly involve details of leaf shapes and reproductive features. The emphasis will be on the larger, frondose ferns of woodlands but we shall also consider some of the smaller ferns found on walls and overhanging streams. Suitable for beginners and improvers. Join us for a fun-filled evening at the Five Acre Wood School Charity Football Match 2026 – great game, great cause! Five Acre Wood School Charity Football Match 2026 Join us for our charity football match, Five Acre Wood School Vs staff and volunteers from Maidstone Utd FC and Stones in the Community. We are delighted to be heading back to the Gallagher Stadium in Maidstone for our fourth consecutive football match! Our FAW team — made up of staff, family members, and friends — will take on the incredible staff and volunteers from Maidstone United FC and Stones in the Community. There's no time for stoppage time, we have got two full hours of fiercely fun football ahead! The price per ticket is just £10 per adult, £5 for under 16s, under 5’s is free. This year we have again a family ticket for £28.00 (2 adults and up to 3 children). Doors open at 6.00pm and kick off is at 7.00 pm on Friday 12th June. Drinks, hot food, ice cream and face painting will also be available to purchase as well as a raffle on the evening with tickets priced at just £2. Be in for a chance to win a range of amazing prizes including a Nintendo Switch plus a game; a shirt signed by George Elokobi and the rest of the team; a Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser; a Family ticket for 4 to Port Lympe and much more. New for this year! We are super excited to introduce a penalty shootout with Iggy the Dinosaur — Maidstone United FC very own mascot! Iggy will be at the stadium from 6pm until half time, so make sure you come along and get involved. Please note, this activity will take place within the stadium, but not on the main pitch. There is limited free parking at the stadium, but there are various pay and display car parks within walking distance. Apart from having a fantastic time at the match, you will be supporting a wonderful local charity where all money raised from the event will go towards running and providing essential football resources for our fabulously fun football sessions for pupils across all sites. These sessions promote a variety of learning experiences that support the development of teamwork, communication, movement, and following adult instruction just to name a few! The sessions are supported by the wonderful Lorraine and Cellen from Stones in the Community, which is the charitable arm of Maidstone United Football Club. The charity has delivered a range of programs since starting, that reflect its commitment to improving the education, health, and well-being of its local communities. We are very fortunate to have Lorraine and Cellen as our coaches who provide a differentiated learning experience, allowing all our pupils to access these sessions. Get ready for cheeky dribbles, daring tackles, and maybe the odd fancy flick, as our teams take to the pitch for some fun-filled football — all for a brilliant cause.
