About the Presenter: Regina Verhelst, LCPC Regina Verhelst is a licensed clinical professional counselor and certified eating disorder specialist in private practice at Authentically You Eating Disorder Counseling in Deerfield, IL. She provides therapy to adolescents, adults and families and has worked in PHP, IOP, and outpatient levels of care. Regina specializes in treating eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns incorporating principles from Health at Every Size (HAES)®, Intuitive Eating, and intersectional feminism. Regina helped launch a body acceptance group utilizing the Accept Yourself! framework developed by Dr. Margit Berman, and has provided training on this model to other eating disorder professionals. In addition to eating disorder treatment, Regina is passionate about providing therapy related to identity development, life transitions, perfectionism, people- pleasing, self-esteem, anxiety, OCD, depression, and trauma. As a queer woman, Regina also enjoys working with individuals in the LGBTQ+ community and their families. She is a member of IAEDP, the Chicago HAES Professional Coalition, the Association for Size Diversity and Health, and the Illinois Counseling Association. Objectives of the presentation: Define Eating Disorders : Provide an overview of major eating disorders (AN, BN, BED, ARFID, OSFED) and their diagnostic criteria per DSM-5-TR. Recognize Signs & Symptoms in Clients : Identify key physical, behavioral, and psychological indicators that may suggest an eating disorder. Understand Risk Factors & Underlying Causes : Explore biological, psychological, and sociocultural contributors to eating disorders. Recognize When to Refer : Learn when a client may need specialized eating disorder treatment and how to navigate referrals. Support Clients in General Therapy Settings : Discuss strategies for providing supportive care when eating disorders are not the primary focus of treatment. Introduce current best practices and evidence-based treatment for eating disorders. Address Common Challenges : Explore barriers to treatment, eating disorder prevention resources, and ways to create a safe space for discussing food and body image concerns. NH's Largest Antique Show and Flea Market at the Deerfield Fairgrounds, 34 Stage Road, Deerfield, NH! What to Expect: Drop off: 8:30am - 8:50am Pick up: 3:30pm - 4:00 pm Day 1: Compass/Orienteering, Basic Knots - Learn to navigate in the woods and basic knots Day 2: Fire Building and Tool Safety - Learn to build a fire without lighter or matches Day 3: Shelter Building, Advanced Knots - Learn how to build a primitive shelter and additional knot tying techniques Day 4: Primitive Cooking - Learn how to boil water and heat food with self built fire Day 5: SURVIVE - Put all your skills to the test and survive a day in the woods as a group Who Can Attend: This camp is open to all adventurous souls aged 10-14(15-16 added by request).
