I am a trained group sound relaxation therapist through BAST (The British Academy of Sound Therapy). I am insured through Balens, and hold a current emergency first aid at work certificate. For the sound bath I will be using himalayan singing bowls, gong, crystal singing bowls and percussion to induce a deep state of relaxation. There are so many benefits to health and wellbeing that can be achieved with deep relaxation, including reduced stress and anxiety, less muscle tension and physical pain, as well as an increased sense of wellbeing and a positive mood state. If you would like to attend a Sound bath session, can you check the contraindications and get back to me if you have answered yes to any of the following questions. CONTRAINDICATIONS AND INFORMATION A contraindication means that at this time it may not be suitable for you to attend a session. 1) If female, are you less than 3 months pregnant? 2) Do you have, or have you had, frequently triggered epilepsy or any seizures which you believe are sound triggered? 3) Are you currently being treated for, or do you currently have, clinical depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, dis-associative disorders, paranoid schizophrenia or any other serious mental health condition? 4) Have you had a diagnosis of PTSD (or feel you have PTSD). 5) Have you recently had surgery or any medical procedure? Are there any complications or pain with this? 6) Are you prone to anaphylaxis or require any life-saving medication to be administered? Do you need to carry an epi-pen for example? 7) Do you have any serious medical condition or general special need (but are not considered a "vulnerable person") I should know about beforehand? 8) Are you comfortable lying on the floor? 9) Do you have metal implants in your body, such as pins or joints? 10)Are you under 18 years of age or considered to be a vulnerable adult? ATTENDING A SOUNDBATH - WHAT TO BRING * PLEASE ARRIVE AT LEAST 10 MINUTES BEFORE START TIME * Wear warm, comfortable clothing, fluffy socks & jumpers. It is better to be too warm than cold * Bring an eye mask or eye pillow if you have one. This makes it easier "to block the outside world out". * Bring a yoga mat, a blanket to cover yourself with and an extra blanket to lie on for added comfort. * Pregnant women who are over 12 weeks are welcome to attend. Do please check with your midwife, however, the instruments are not placed directly onto you, and you can choose to lie further away from them. It is advised that pregnant women do not lie on their back, especially in the third trimester, so please do bring additional supports with you, so that you are able to lie on your left hand side comfortably. * Bring props, a bolster or pillow if any parts of your body need propping up. This is particularly important for pregnant women. It is advisable to put a pillow under your knees for added lower back support. * Bring a water bottle SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE THE SOUND BATH * Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. Soundwaves travel better through water. When you are well hydrated, you will have a better experience. * Eat light and healthy food before the sound bath. * Set your intentions and be positive. * Settle yourself in the space with a calm mind and enjoy the experience. IMPORTANT UPDATE! - *** NEW DATE *** Due to an unexpected environmental consideration on site, we are moving the date of this event to Saturday, July 26, 2025 . Thank you for your understanding and we hope to see you at the new event date. Please monitor the social media accounts of Uxbridge Township and the Rotary Club of Uxbridge for updates. If you have already registered for the event, but cannot attend the new date , please cancel your registration so that we will have accurate numbers for attendance. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have already registered and can still attend , nothing needs to be done on your part. We'll see you at the site preparation! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come on out and help The Rotary Club of Uxbridge prepare the Fields of Uxbridge for its 2nd mini forest! (***NEW DATE*** ): Saturday, July 26, 2025 Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Location: 335 Durham Regional Road 1 Parking: Free parking available at the parking lots located at 721 Ball Road, Uxbridge, ON. What we'll be doing: In November 2024 the first mini forest in Durham was installed at the Fields of Uxbridge. Now we're preparing the adjacent site for a second mini forest. We'll be laying down cardboard, compost, and mulch to prepare the sites for the eventual planting of 600 trees and shrubs later in the fall. These materials will be left to settle over the next few months, creating a nutrient-rich site for the tree planting event in October/November. What is a Mini Forest? A mini forest is a densely planted community of native trees and plants in an area the size of a tennis court. Mini forests tend to grow faster, sequester more carbon, and promote more biodiversity than conventionally planted urban trees. What will we be doing? We'll be preparing our second mini forest site by laying down cardboard, compost, and mulch. These materials will be left to settle over the next few months, creating a nutrient-rich site for the tree planting event in October/November. No experience necessary and all ages are welcome! Note: This is a physical activity that may require lifting materials up to 10kg - please be aware of your limitations. What to wear and bring: Protective work gloves Closed-toe shoes or boots Reusable water bottle Clothes appropriate for the weather Sunscreen and mosquito repellent (if necessary) Shovels (if possible), but we will have some available as well Epi-pen (for those with severe food, insect, or environmental allergies) Shovels and light refreshments will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you'd like. Let's work together to make our community greener and more beautiful. See you there! Consent and Notice of Photography: By registering to participate in this event, you understand the risks and hazards associated with the work to be done and the environment in which you will be working. You also consent to the use of photos and/or videos of you at this event by the Township of Uxbridge, The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, The Rotary Club of Uxbridge and its partnering Rotary Clubs on social media, on-line or in print. This mini forest project is a collaboration between The Rotary Club of Uxbridge and The Township of Uxbridge. We are grateful for the generous in-kind donation of compost from The Region of Durham, and mulch from UTS Tree Care. This project was made possible by the financial support of The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, The Rotary Foundation, and contributions from the Rotary Clubs of Etobicoke, Richmond Hill, Toronto, Toronto Eglinton, Whitby, Whitby-Sunrise, Uxbridge, Woodbridge, and York.
