Walking and Drawing Plein Air in Marsden Join me for a morning of creativity and exploration in the beautiful village of Marsden! This event combines the joys of walking in nature with the art of drawing en plein air. Whether you're an experienced artist or a beginner looking to try something new, this session is perfect for all skill levels. All drawing materials will be provided, but feel free to bring any additional supplies you're comfortable using. Each session will be held in a small group (maximum of 8 participants), allowing me to offer personalised tuition and drawing advice while keeping an eye on everyone. If you're bringing children, please ensure they are accompanied at all times. We will explore different inspirational locations around the village, including boulders, waterfalls, canals, rivers, trees, moorland, and abandoned industrial mills. You may also encounter native wildlife and farm animals like sheep. The aim is to help you relax, connect with nature, and be present in the moment. For repeat students, you'll have the chance to see how the changing seasons influence your drawings over time. Classes will be held fortnightly, meeting outside the Marsden Mechanics in the village centre at 10 am. In the event of torrential rain, I will cancel the class and offer refunds. To attend, please book in advance via Eventbrite or contact me directly through email or text. Payment can be made via bank transfer or Eventbrite prior to the class. Unfortunately, I cannot offer refunds for no-shows. With my background in fine art and years of experience walking the local moorlands, I’ll provide advice on techniques and help you improve your drawing skills. I’ll also guide you to areas that I find particularly inspiring. A moderate level of fitness is ideal for this class. Taking place in the beautiful outdoor setting of Anello Kitchen Garden, we will all meet at Dark Woods Coffee mill where your ticket includes a complimentary glass of Louis de Grenelle 'Bio' Cremant de Loire Rosé. There is a short walk to the garden so please wear appropriate footwear and keep an eye on the weather forecast to know how many layers to wear! The event will go ahead in the mill in the event of rain. The menu will be finalised the week before the event when we know what produce will be available, but it will consist of fresh and preserved vegetables from the garden as well as extra vegetables, fruit, meat and dairy from the best local suppliers. Please let us know when booking if you require a vegetarian option. Dark Woods will be operating a pop-up wine bar with Hoults on the same evening at their mill space, so you can also grab a bottle to go before the main event and then if you so wish, join the ‘after party’ at the mill until 11pm!
