Packed into one day, a slightly exotic cottage garden, a small but perfectly designed walled garden and a garden on the North coast An action packed day visiting three contrasting gardens west of Penzance. A slightly exotic cottage garden reflecting the unique climate of Mousehole. Packed with the unusual and exotic, there will be a greater number of species that you don’t recognise than those you do! A small but perfectly designed walled garden with great structural detail and carefully planned planting near St Buryan. Those members who recall a day of garden visits led by Michael Harvey, the garden designer in September 2024 will probably find this opportunity of visiting his own small garden irresistible. By contrast, ‘Tremorran and the Angel’ on the North coast at Botallack near St Just proves that with good shelter belts you can even grow a protea in these harsh salty conditions. Part of the Quiet Garden Movement it is a maze of paths leading to sheltered ‘rooms’ with well stocked borders containing shrubs, hydrangeas and herbaceous plants with plenty of seating and interesting sculptures. There’s also a grass labyrinth and an Arts and Crafts gallery. No dogs in the first two gardens due to space restrictions but welcome at Tremorran. Join the artist talk with Harun Morrison at The Exchange in Penzance on Saturday, February 10, 2024. This event is an opportunity to learn more about Morrison's work and creative practice as an artist and writer. As an associate artist with Greenpeace UK, Morrison will discuss his Storm Warning Commission and share his experience in tackling environmental issues. Following the talk, Morrison will host a discursive workshop using his Environmental Justice cards, which aim to foster conversations and critical thinking about the environment and climate change. This workshop is open to everyone, but it may be of particular interest to activists and those in education who want to explore these topics further. Be sure to book separately for the workshop. Harun Morrison is an artist and writer based on the UK inland waterways. His work has been exhibited internationally, including group exhibitions in Romania and Hungary as part of the European Capital of Culture 2023 program. He has also had solo exhibitions in London, the Netherlands, and Birmingham. Maya Ronchetti, who was an artist in residence at Cabilla Cornwall in 2022, has a deep understanding of the importance of creativity in children's lives. Cabilla Cornwall, an upland hill farm on Bodmin Moor, is home to over 100 acres of nationally rare temperate rainforest habitat. The reintroduction of beavers on their site is a vital part of Cabilla's rewilding strategy and their affiliation with the Rewilding Britain Network.
