The Essence of Drawing - Tutored Life Drawing Class | The Old Library, Midhurst
Arts
Fine Art
This group of classes will allow you to further your journey in mastering the art of drawing from life, equip you with the tools to gain confidence in your artistic abilities, and also make for a fun, social evening out! Each session will have a different theme, to add new elements as we progress through the term, and you'll get a free glass of bubbly at the door for the ambience~* The class will run from 6.30-8.30pm. After a brief intro, we will be welcoming a live model as our subject for the session, and work through various length poses over 2 hours. I will be introducing you to a few techniques to try during the session for those with Tutored session tickets, and each participant will also individually receive personalised advice to match their learning level throughout. We will explore the human form, how to create the illusion of depth, movement, texture, volume and perspective using dry mediums such as charcoal, pastel and graphite. You will be taught how to maintain accurate proportions and create balanced compositions on your page. We will go through how to break down a whole subject into sections to better understand shapes and perspective, and how to effectively use line and shading to achieve your goals. You will also learn to identify the common pitfalls that befall artists working from life, how to fix mistakes and how to minimise making them. The techniques I am teaching are very accessible to beginners and easy to pick up, with a bit of practice. Class numbers are limited to 12 participants, which allows for 1-1 tuition for all attendees throughout the evening, so every student works at their own pace/skill level and has unique outcomes. All necessary drawing materials will be provided on the day, you need only bring yourself, an A3 sketchbook (white in colour), and any comfort or support accessories you may need. The venue has a ramped entrance, accessible to wheelchairs/mobility aids. There is restricted parking on Kockhundred Row, but plenty of parking close by at the Grange Leisure centre car park. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any other accessibility needs you require.
