Somerset TRF is pleased to announce the Somerset TRF Basic and Advanced Rider Training, scheduled to take place on Saturday, 2nd December 2023. This training day will be held at the picturesque Binegar Quarry, conveniently located near Radstock. The day will be divided into two groups, with training starting promptly at 0900 and concluding at 1500. Dean will be coaching the Basic level training, while Anthony will work with the Advanced level group. Throughout the event, Anff and Rob will provide support. The Basic Training group will focus on a range of Trail and Enduro skills, including bike setup, riding positions, throttle and clutch control, braking, gear selection, and cornering techniques. The Advanced Group will target higher-level skills and their practical application. Please note that this training is exclusively for adult riders over the age of 18. Participants must ensure they have safe and fit-for-purpose motorcycles and riding gear, including helmets. Motorcycles should be in good and safe working order, ensuring reliable starting and stopping throughout the day. If there are any concerns or questions regarding equipment, please contact us in advance of attending the event. The day will commence with an observation and practical assessment of all riders, followed by a tailored training plan based on individual levels, abilities, and requirements. The trainers will demonstrate riding tasks and techniques for riders to emulate, focusing on specific objectives for the day. The venue, Binegar Quarry, offers a variety of natural terrain, including undulating open landscapes, wooded areas, and rocky and hilly sections. The site is equipped with woody trials sections, progressively steeper hill climbs, a rock and hill area for technical bike skills, and various logs and jumps suitable for all skill levels. Please remember to bring your own food and drink, as they will not be available for sale at the venue. Additionally, please note that all riding during the training day is only permitted under the direct supervision of one of the instructors. Winter is drawing to a close, but the much-anticipated snow is still nowhere in sight. The Igloo - Travelling Light Theatre Company is bringing an enchanting experience to Radstock, where the main characters, Ira and Sadie, find themselves longing for snow to build an igloo. However, as the saying goes, sometimes you don't get what you want, even after waiting patiently. In this case, though, the outcome is even better than expected. Igloo is a captivating non-verbal performance that offers a playful and sensory exploration for the whole family. Suitable for babes in arms and pre-schoolers aged 0-3, accompanied by their carers, the show lasts for 30 minutes. Afterward, there is a 30-minute stay and play session, facilitated by Travelling Light. While the performance itself is non-verbal, the play session incorporates some words. As a souvenir, audience members will receive an Igloo picture book along with other creative ideas to encourage continued imaginative play at home. Originally co-produced by Travelling Light and Bristol Old Vic, this event will take place on February 19th, 2024, at the Methodist Church on The Street in Radstock, UK.
