Welcome to SwimWildly, a community of solo wild swimmers in Yorkshire/Derbyshire who meet up at local swim spots for a chat and a swim! We are open to all abilities. Please note for accessibility reasons: this venue has a very steep hill. There is a bus from Bakewell to the swim spot in Youlgreave (172), and a direct bus from Sheffield to Bakewell (Peakline 218). Come watch a sneal preview of the best films from this year's Sheffield Adventure Film Festival. The films will be published asap after March 10th, once the judges have decided on the award winners for the 2025 festival. Get your tickets in advance as it's sure to sell out. Hosted at the wonderful Thornbridge Tap Room, using our silent cinema screening kit, we're screening a series of films over the winter months. A silent screening does not mean there's no sound, just that you wear headphones to listen to the film. We provide all the equipment. Thornbridge will have the bar open and you'll be able to order their tasty pizza on the night too, to munch at whilst watching the film. How does a silent cinema work?We broadcast the film sound from small transmitter. We give you a receiver and some headphones so that you can hear the sound. You can bring your own headphones (if you wish), but they must use a standard stereo connector, we CAN'T connect bluetooth headphones currently. Why are we screening it silently?By screening it silently we're able to provide a better sound experience in an open space, such as the Tap Room. You will hear the soundtrack clearly and loudly, immersed in the film, whilst also being aware of the general hubbub in the bar. It will also allow Thornbridge to open the bar to other members of the public, without disturbing the viewing experience, or letting others listen in without a ticket. This means we can keep the ticket prices down for you. What will I need to bring?Just yourself and any friends, oh and maybe some way to pay for a beer or pizza. If you like a cushion under your bum, bring one of those too. Otherwise, we provide a seat, headphones and all the kit for a great screening experience.
