The Midnight Sun Marathon is an arctic adventure for runners. Tromsø in summer has the midnight sun, which shines all day and never sets. Our street race is characterised by strong contrasts and exciting experiences, with five different distances. The 2024 edition was a huge success, with 7,000 runners from 88 countries taking part, creating an adventurous running party in Tromsø. The race is a public festival that brings together not only the runners and officials, but the whole city cheering on the runners at the finish line. Many runners return year after year to experience the intimate atmosphere of the event.

With that being said, the PolarNight Marathon is the place to be!! Polar Night Halfmarathon is an annual half marathon running competition been organized since 2004 in Tromsø, Norway. It takes place in the beginning of January, during the Polar night-period, when the sun does not rise above the horizon. It is renowned for its torch-lit route and the chance of running underneath the aurora borealis. You can choose between 42km (new since 2021), 21km, 10km and 5km. The marathon is not the race for beginners since you have to prove that you have done the distance less the 4 hours the last two years to sign up.
