Arts Craft
Interested in Mosaic Art but unsure where to start? We've got you covered! Come join us and learn the ins and outs of creating your own beautiful Mosaic Art pieces! Meet Doraine Glidden! She is a local mosaic artist who loves repurposing unique materials and giving them a beautiful second life through her artwork. She says Mosaic is an art form that allows me so much creative freedom, there seems to be no end to what can be used for materials. In my mind it's like I'm making a beautiful puzzle, and putting it together piece by piece. Keeping this ancient art form interesting and relevant for many years to come is something that inspires me daily, and I couldn't be more excited to share that inspiration with others. Doraine has designed the perfect class for anyone curious about Mosaic Arts. Her goal is to assist and inspire you while you bring your first Mosaic vision to life, and to teach you the skills you need to continue making your own pieces and explore your own creativity! All materials will be provided for you to create your own 8x8 tile, and you will even leave with your own set of nippers so you can continue to explore this beautiful art form on your own! We will have light refreshments available for everyone, but feel free to bring your own lunch if you would like to enjoy the outdoors and have a picnic by the lake after class! Available Class Dates: Saturday, November 16th from 10am-1pm. About Crane and Clover's Barn Studio Space! Step into Crane and Clover's Barn Studio Space, where creativity thrives amidst the charm of our family farm! As you enter the property through the stone columns out front, follow the gravel driveway and take your first right towards our barn. Follow the signs for parking. Upon entering the barn, you'll find our beautiful art and floral design workshop where creativity thrives! The picturesque view of the lake and fresh air inspires students of any age, but there's more to our studio than meets the eye. Say hello to our ponies, Hershey and Bunny, who love to say hello when they are not busy grazing in the pasture. And when nature calls don't worry, we've got you covered! No porta potties here! You have access to an indoor and air conditioned bathroom just steps away in the tack room. Every comfort is addressed so you can focus on unleashing your creativity and making your creations come to life! Things to Know About This Space: -This studio is in our barn and we often leave the doors open, so be sure to wear clothes that are compatible for the weather! During the summer months, we keep large fans going and the barn doors open for that lovely summer breeze. In the winter months, we have space heaters that keep the barn nice and toasty. We will also have bug spray on hand in case you meet a tiny friend you don't want around! Please keep in mind, this is a working farm, with uneven surfaces to walk on. We have reserved a parking spot up front for anyone who needs it, but please be aware that there is a small stretch of gravel between the car and the barn door. Floors in the barn are concrete. If you need special accommodation, please don't hesitate to reach out and we will do our best to accommodate. Kiln Firing Disclaimer! When we fire ceramics in the kiln, the process involves heating your artwork to very high temperatures (around 2235°F!) to make them strong and prepared for glazing. However, sometimes ceramics can explode during firing. This can be caused by a number of reasons, like trapped air pockets, lingering moisture in the clay, or just plain bad luck! If your sculpture ends up having a rough time in the kiln, don't stress it! We will reach out to schedule a day where you can come out and sculpt your masterpiece again, free of charge. Our unofficial motto at the Crane and Clover is “We do it right, because we do it twice!” Picking Up Your Finished Ceramics! Finished ceramics are typically ready for pick up three weeks after your class depending on the size and glazing detail of your project. Each piece will be carefully glazed by Kim and Delaney with the glazes of your choice, and once your pieces are done with the firing process, we will reach out to schedule what day and time works best for you to pick up your custom ceramic masterpiece! Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns at: info@ccretreat.com Information Source: Crane & Clover Retreat | eventbrite
