Whether a sweaty rock show or an intimate acoustic environment, The Town Heroes want you to be entertained. Born and raised in small town Cape Breton, Mike Ryan and Bruce Gillis have played together for the past 16 years—touring 9 countries, releasing 7 critically acclaimed albums, raising over 30k for charity (including Feed NS and The Red Cross), and winning an array of industry awards—13 Music Nova Scotia Awards, 5 ECMA’s. Anthemic choruses, danceable arrangements, and tender falsettos highlight their catchy yet thoughtful songs. At heart, a perfect soundtrack for contemplating life with a bounce in your step. Musically, the band blends their 90’s alt-rock influences with singer-songwriter stylings in the vein of Neil Young or Ryan Adams. On stage they move like intense caricatures—soaked in sweat, pushing every chord, note and beat to the limit. A structured wall of sound emerges; familiar yet distinctive. In addition to their music, the band has become known for their ability to make people laugh. Through comedic videos gone viral, online bingo, unexpected wardrobe, operating late night sandwich stands at music festivals, amusing acceptance speeches and interviews, the band has earned a reputation for making people laugh. Tickets are $30 + fees . Like all of our house concerts, 1 00 % of the door will go directly to the artists. We provide the stage, chairs and hopefully a room filled with eager listeners. Goats and Giggles A cuddle session with brand new baby goats and baby humans! Join Farmer Sandy for farmyard play time and a chance to meet our adorable baby goats! A wagon ride is included in the fun. This class is for participants ages 1-5 and their parents or caregivers. Younger siblings under 1 are always welcome to join in at no additional cost. Nightclubs were a cultural mainstay during the Big Band Era of the late-1930’s-40’s, continuing to entertain crowds well through the mid-20th Century. In major American cities, the most fashionable nightclubs were grand-scale venues featuring top performers, showgirls, and live orchestras playing jazz or swing music. The best of the male crooners headlining these rooms featured such luminaries as Frank Sinatra, Nat ‘King’ Cole, Bing Crosby, Bobby Darin, Mel Tormé, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and Tony Bennett. They all performed with the famous big bands of the day at such iconic hotspots as The Copacabana, Chez Paree, The Maisonette, The Latin Quarter, Ciro’s, The Rainbow Room, The Cotton Club, and larger landmarks such as The Savoy, The Sands, The Apollo, and The Tropicana, to name only a few.  The trendiest nightspots attracted a rich and famous clientele who created a stir beyond the cocktails, dancing, and all-star entertainment. The environment was magic, and the music was superbly delivered to enthusiastic and appreciative audiences on a nightly basis.
