The 6-week Ceramic Wheel course for Beginners, held at the New Dawn pottery in Manchester, is perfect for both beginners and those who have taken a beginner course before. It is recommended that participants have at least some experience, such as a taster class, to fully benefit from the course. The courses are available at different times throughout the day, including evenings, afternoons, and mornings. With a maximum of 6 students per class, the course offers an intense and personalized learning experience tailored to individual skills. Each student will have their own wheel, ensuring a focused and productive session. The course is divided into different weeks, allowing participants to gradually learn and improve their skills. Starting with the basics of wedging and throwing shapes on the wheel, the focus then shifts to centering the clay and pulling walls. Subsequent weeks cover topics such as throwing bowl-like shapes, working with larger amounts of clay, perfecting cylinders, and learning how to trim and attach handles to pieces. The final week is dedicated to glazing, offering participants the opportunity to express their creativity and experiment with different techniques. At the end of the course, participants can book additional practice time in the studio for further improvement. Their finished pieces will be available for collection 2-3 weeks after the course finishes. Please note that due to the set dates and times of the course, class cancellations cannot be rescheduled.
