"Echoes of Kairos" - Dual Exhibition by Julien Chaussieux and Laurent Grasso. This dual exhibition showcases how two pioneers of contemporary French art—Julien Chaussieux and Laurent Grasso—capture invisible echoes in the interstices of time through their distinctive artistic approaches.
Xia Xijie's works traverse the realms of geology, archaeology, and poetry. Venturing into glaciers, volcanoes, and nuclear exclusion zones, he captures the geological imprints of the Anthropocene through photography and installations, compressing millennia into fleeting moments. Melting glaciers, radiation-scarred rocks, and minerals glowing under ultraviolet light—these serve as both scientific specimens and meditations on destruction and rebirth.
Grasso constructs a space-time theater brimming with mysticism and sci-fi allure. Drawing from historical imagery, arcane symbols, and scientific visualizations, he creates "time capsules" suspended between past and future. From classical architecture bathed in auroras to massive installations simulating sunspots, Grasso invites viewers into a state of "synchronic" contemplation—where the medieval era and space age seamlessly intertwine.
Though working in different mediums, both artists explore the same question: In this age of acceleration, how do we perceive those slow or sudden "Kairos moments"? The exhibition itself functions as an echo chamber, allowing their works to converse within the space and create new temporal folds.
