Join the HBCU Football Watch Party of the Week at D'bo's Daiquiris, Wings & Seafood in Southfield! This exciting event is brought to you by the Detroit HBCU Network and offers a great opportunity for HBCU family and friends to come together. Every Saturday throughout the football season, we will showcase at least one HBCU game, and maybe even two back-to-back games. The atmosphere will be lively, with alumni engagement, delicious food, and a fundraising element for alumni chapters and the Detroit HBCU Network. During the Watch Party, we will be offering special daiquiris that represent the colors of each school. For every one of these daiquiris sold, we will donate $3 back to the Detroit HBCU Network. It's a great way to support your alma mater while enjoying a fantastic game day experience. Plus, D'bo's is owned by three Morehouse and one Southern graduate, so you can celebrate your season with fellow HBCU alumni. Join the Optimus Cold Front Classic '24, the coldest meet of the year on January 20th - 21st! This exciting event will take place at Optimus Barbell in Southfield. Prepare to test your strength and endurance while having a blast at this highly anticipated weightlifting competition. Registration is now open, and spots are limited, so make sure to secure your spot online before it's too late. Regular registration will close at 11:59 pm on 12/15/23, followed by late registration until 11:59 pm on 1/6/24. To sweeten the deal, all athletes who register by 12/15/23 will receive an exclusive meet shirt. Sizes can be selected during the registration process. The meet schedule, which is subject to change, will be finalized one week prior to the event on 1/13/24. Sessions will be divided by entry total and gender, ensuring a fair and competitive atmosphere. Saturday will feature Session 1 with weigh-in at 8:00 am and lifting at 10:00 am, followed by Session 2 with weigh-in at 10:30 am and lifting at 12:30 pm. Sunday will showcase Session 3 with weigh-in at 8:00 am and lifting at 10:00 am, and Session 4 with weigh-in at 10:30 am and lifting at 12:30 pm. It is important to note that all lifters must be USAW members and present their USAW card and valid identification at the meet. Please ensure that you have your singlet ready for the weigh-in as it is now a mandatory requirement. There is a slight allowance of .25kg, meaning that if your weight is 55.25kg, you will be entered as 55kg.
