Recognised worldwide as one of the most influential figures in sound system culture, Aba Shanti-I has been carrying roots, culture and consciousness through sound for over three decades. A resident sound system at Notting Hill Carnival since 1993 — the same year he was named No.1 DJ in the world by DJ Magazine — Aba has played across the UK and internationally, from Brazil to Japan, Mexico to the US. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Dennis Brown, Bob Marley, Junior Delgado, Yabby You and Prince Lincoln Thompson, Aba’s sound weaves classic roots reggae and dub with his signature use of reverb, delay and live effects — creating a deep, immersive and unmistakable sonic language. From his early days as Jasmine Joe on Jah Tubby’s sound system, through the founding of the University of Dub, to producing music with Blood Shanti and the Shanti-Ites on the Falasha label, Aba Shanti-I’s work has helped shape, protect and elevate sound system culture as a living tradition. This rare full band show will feature artists from the album: Evan Jenkins on drums, Ruby Colley on violin and Lizzie Rafati and Victoria Howarth on vocal harmonies. Performing with Hayley for the first time is James Davidson (Samaki) on Bass and Bonj (Wytch Pycknyk) on lead guitar. Americana UK says it's 'intimate and authentic.... an album that lingers, not just in melody but in feeling - long after the final note fades.' 8/10**** Hayley Savage Hayley is a British folk singer and guitarist with distinctively pure vocals, understated charm and deeply personal songwriting. At the age of 29, Hayley moved to The Netherlands where she began writing the album and performing in Den Bosch with the support of her local record store. She then moved to Brighton where she formed Americana duo Grand Palace, and in 2016 she returned to her hometown, Hastings, where she made her first home recordings ‘All Along the Railings’ ep and in 2021 she performed at The De La Warr Pavilion supporting ‘This is the Kit’. With 15 years between now and her debut ‘The Daisy Room’, this album is more than a break of silence. It’s an explosion of expression both musically and lyrically and a sure sign that Hayley is back, with her full creative spirit intact. The new album by Hayley Savage is a collection of songs written between 2011 – 2021. It’s a mixture of Folk, Americana and Indie with a minimalist and organic production. Special guest opening act: Kristin McClement Kristin McClement is a singer and a songwriter.
