Details

Join artist Paul Mpagi Sepuya for an enlightening lecture on his practice and the work currently on display at Nottingham Contemporary. Sepuya's portraiture challenges the conventions of photography, deconstructing traditional portraiture through techniques such as exposing, layering, fragmentation, and mirror imagery. He also offers a unique perspective through the black, queer gaze. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session with Ali Roche, Chief Curator of Exhibitions and Live Programmes at Nottingham Contemporary. This event is open to all and there is no cost to attend. However, seating is limited, so booking in advance is required. The duration of the lecture and Q&A session is approximately one and a half hours. The event will take place in The Space, a wheelchair-accessible venue. Speakers will use microphones to ensure optimal audio quality. For visitors requiring information on accessibility or any specific requirements, please contact us via email at info@nottinghamcontemporary.org or call 0115 948 9750. We are committed to accommodating all access needs. Paul Mpagi Sepuya is a Los Angeles-based artist specializing in photography.
