Join the Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Art in Minneapolis for an exciting artist talk and glassblowing demonstration featuring Jason McDonald, the 2024 Visiting Artist. This event will take place on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Foci MCGA Hot Shop. The evening will begin with an artist talk in the Threads Dance Studio from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a glassblowing demo in the Hot Shop from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Jason McDonald, a talented glass artist, is known for his expertise in Venetian furnace techniques. Through his work, he sheds light on the challenges that BIPOC individuals face when accessing creative spaces and embraces the thrill of technical pursuits. Jason's glass career started at the age of 14 at the hilltop artist program in Tacoma, Washington. Since then, he has received numerous honors and awards, including the Windgate Fellowship. He has also been a contestant on the popular show 'Blown Away' and has completed residencies at renowned institutions such as the Pittsburgh Glass Center and Pilchuck Glass School. In addition to his artistic practice, Jason has taught at various prestigious institutions, including Penland School of Craft, Pratt Fine Arts, and The Studio at Corning Museum of Glass, among others.
