LEAD Sport presents ASPIRING COACHES 2024, a program offering Leadership, Employability, and Development Opportunities for Young People in Perth & Kinross. This initiative aims to assist young individuals in acquiring recognized qualifications, honing leadership skills in sports, and developing essential life and work competencies to contribute towards a positive future. The program comprises three key components: Part 1 - The Coaching Conference: A 3-day interactive session will take place at Perth College UHI sports hall, running from June 10 to June 12, 2024. Participants, primarily S3-S5 pupils, will engage in various workshops focusing on coaching fundamentals, session planning, positive coaching mindset, and more, led by industry experts. Part 2 - Volunteering: Following the conference, participants will gain confidence by leading sports sessions during Terms 1 and 2. By committing to 25 hours of volunteering, individuals can progress towards becoming a qualified sports coach and receive the prestigious Saltire Award. Part 3 - Becoming a Qualified Sports Coach: Aspiring coaches will have the opportunity to choose a sport to pursue a nationally recognized qualification. The LEAD team will facilitate attendance at relevant coaching courses organized by the National Governing Body, providing invaluable experience and skills development. It is essential to note that the Aspiring Coaches program is exclusively open to pupils from Perth and Kinross council schools. Participants must arrange their transportation to and from Perth College and any additional sport-specific courses.
