The Chicago Poetry Center is thrilled to present the highly anticipated Blue Hour Generative Workshop. This monthly event takes place at the esteemed Haymarket House in Chicago and offers participants a unique opportunity to engage in the art of generative writing. The workshop features a limited-space session where attendees will delve into a poem by one of the esteemed featured readers. Guided generative writing time will allow participants to explore their own creativity and expand their writing skills. The workshop will commence promptly at 6 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to arrive anytime after 5:45 p.m. The session will conclude at 7 p.m. Following the workshop, the event will transition into an open mic and reading, showcasing the talent of two poets from the local Chicago community and beyond. This inclusive gathering will provide a platform for poets to share their work and foster a sense of community. Marty McConnell will serve as the facilitator and host for the upcoming event on January 17th. Registration for the workshop and reading can be completed separately, with the reading being completely free and donations for the workshop starting at $5. The Chicago Poetry Center also prioritizes accessibility, health, and safety. All restrooms at Haymarket House are gender-neutral, and ASL interpretation will be provided. The venue is ADA compliant, fully wheelchair-accessible, and equipped with professional air filtration for added safety.
