Details

Join Daniel Davidson at the end of the residency week for a captivating work-in-progress sharing of the R&D process for 'Tackle'. This thought-provoking piece delves into the multifaceted nature of masculinity, challenging society's perceptions of male identity. Set within the dynamic context of a five-a-side football match, the work explores themes inherent to football and queer culture, while examining the vast spectrum of masculinity. As the project is still in its early stages, the residency at Dance Base offers an invaluable opportunity for Daniel and his talented dancers to investigate and explore these themes and ideas. Daniel Davidson, born in Edinburgh, Scotland, is a highly accomplished dance artist and choreographer. Having trained at The Dance School of Scotland and Millennium Performing Arts, Daniel danced for Scottish Ballet and later joined Rambert, where he showcased his exceptional talent until 2022. As a freelance artist, he has expanded his repertoire and recently assumed the role of Assistant Choreographer to Marion Motin for Jean Paul Gaultier's Fashion Freak Show. Daniel's choreographic brilliance has been showcased in various notable productions, including those for Rambert School, The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and Covent Garden Dance Company, to name a few. Currently pursuing an MA in Choreography at Central School of Ballet, Daniel Davidson is a rising star in the industry. Don't miss this exclusive event, generously supported through our Paid Artist Residency Programme. Join Daniel Davidson at Dance Base, Scotland's National Centre for Dance, located at 14-16 Grassmarket, Edinburgh, EH1 2JU, on December 15, 2023, for an enriching and insightful sharing of 'Tackle'. Admission is free.
