Experience an evening dedicated to exploring and sketching the moon at the ACA Observatory in Allenheads, Hexham. Led by ACA’s artist director, Alan Smith, attendees will be transported back to 1609, alongside Italian Astronomer Galileo Galilei. Using various optical tools like binoculars and telescopes, participants will observe the moon's phases and intricate details just as Galileo did centuries ago. Delve into the art of lunar drawing, capturing its beauty through different magnifications. Pens, pencils, and paper will be provided, but feel free to bring your preferred art supplies to experiment with various techniques. Depending on weather conditions, outdoor equipment usage is anticipated; however, indoor arrangements are in place if needed. Feel free to bring a red torch, binoculars, telescopes, and any additional art materials. This captivating event will take place on March 21, 2024, at ACA Observatory, Allenheads, Hexham, with free admission for all.
