Details

Join the tactile and joyful family experience at Greyhope Bay for the event "Felted Scenes for Families with NORAA". Renowned textile artist Eleanor MacDonald, also known as NORAA, will guide participants in creating stunning felted artwork inspired by the beautiful surroundings. This unique workshop, suitable for adults and children over 5 years old, encourages exploration of personal thoughts and emotions evoked by the view. Using wool, participants will engage with nature directly, pulling apart colorful wisps of wool roving and layering them into compositions. With the addition of soapy water and friction, the fibers fuse together, resulting in a textured masterpiece that can be displayed on a wall or transformed into a cozy cushion. This centuries-old process pays homage to Scotland's rich textile heritage, while also providing a meaningful way for multiple generations to connect through fibers and play. NORAA's work delves into Scotland's Gaelic animism roots, mixing various media such as drawing, appliqué, felting, and stitch. Don't miss this opportunity to engage with nature, embrace creativity, and discover folklore intuition within. This event, made possible by funding from The People's Project, will take place on April 2, 2024, at the Greyhope Bay Centre in Aberdeen. Tickets are priced at £3.50 - £7.
