Mystic Hymnal: presented by Gungor [Austin, TX] ft. Laura C | Wheelhouse
6910 Shirley Avenue #Suite C, Austin, TX 78752

Mystic Hymnal: presented by Gungor [Austin, TX] ft. Laura C | Wheelhouse

Mystic Hymnal is a group singing project meant to unlock our collective voices in order to remind us who we are, together. What comes into your mind when you hear the word “worship”? For many, they may hear notes of manipulation, superstition, or religious trauma. Others hear connection, presence, and love. Regardless of how you feel about the word, there is something about the practice of singing together that is ancient and profoundly powerful. There’s a reason every culture on earth has group singing at its origins. It co-regulates us. It reminds of who we are under our different stories. It connects us to whatever is bigger than who we believe ourselves to be. Culture often has a way of shutting our voices down though. Whether it’s through capitalism, education, religion, or some mix of all of it, we learn who “can sing” and who “can’t.” Birds sing; people sing. Mystic Hymnal is a 90 minute gathering that throws all of that out the window. We use group singing, embodiment, and guided moments of presence to help us experience authentic connection & expression together. In a world where most connection is now through a screen, there’s something important and beautiful about breathing together and singing. We sing songs that are built around three qualities: singable ; based in love; and musically beautiful. This event is pay-what-you-can (we suggest ticket value is $35-$45) . We want this music to be accessible to everyone, and we never want cost to be a barrier. Grab your RSVP ticket to claim your spot. Contributions are welcome and will be accepted at the event...Help us bring group-singing to everyone! No beliefs or singing abilities required. Just come as you are. We are excited for this particular event because we will be joined by the lovely Laura C! Information Source: Mystic Hymnal | eventbrite
