Holding Cosmic Dust: An Almanac staged by Hot Desque is an intriguing video installation that will take place at The Swiss Church in London on Thursday, January 25, 2024. The event is completely free, and no booking is required, although it is recommended to provide an estimate of the expected number of attendees. The private view will be held from 6 to 9 pm, with Hot Desque engaging in a conversation with historian Frederika Tevebring at 7 pm. On Friday, January 26, and Saturday, January 27, the Almanac video installation will be open from 4 to 8 pm. Again, entry is free and no booking is necessary. Hot Desque's video installation, Holding Cosmic Dust: An Almanac, creates immersive environments through collaboration, exploring a speculative archaeological dig that uncovers a matriarchal society. The installation draws connections between archaeology, history, and fantasy. The exhibition, presented in conjunction with an intervention at the Corinium Museum in Cirencester, invites visitors to delve into the world of Hot Desque's work. Through digital renderings, handmade drawings, and metal embossings, the installation evokes relics and remnants found within a mysterious forest site, raising questions about knowledge, fantasy, and the role of art in shaping narratives during times of planetary crises. During the private view on January 25, Hot Desque will engage in a conversation with historian Frederika Tevebring, discussing their worldbuilding practice, matriarchal societies, fantasy in archaeology, and the role of art in alternative narratives. The video installation showcases the collective works of Holly Graham, Rubie Green, Rebeca Romero, Amba Sayal-Bennett, Abel Shah, and Suzanne Treister. Don't miss the opportunity to explore Holding Cosmic Dust: An Almanac staged by Hot Desque at The Swiss Church in London. This thought-provoking event is made possible with the support of The Corinium Museum, Arts Council England, The Swiss Church, Hypha Studios, and Woodlands UK. Additionally, the project collaborates with Peckham Levels, Step Out Mentoring, Lab Gloucestershire Library, and Cirencester and Bingham Library.
