ICA and Weitzman School of Design Lecture Series: Jessica Vaughn | Institute of Contemporary Art

The Institute of Contemporary Art and the Stuart Weitzman School at the University of Pennsylvania present an upcoming lecture by renowned conceptual artist Jessica Vaughn. Taking place in Philadelphia at the Institute of Contemporary Art, this lecture is part of a distinguished series that showcases artists, activists, writers, and disruptors whose work explores the social and cultural themes of our time. Jessica Vaughn's art practice, rooted in Philadelphia, is dedicated to delving into the political, social, and conceptual functions of materials and images in the world. Through various mediums such as sculpture, drawing, video, and photography, she examines the intersections of labor and architecture. Vaughn's exceptional work has been exhibited internationally, including at prestigious venues such as Kunstverein Dusseldorf, the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pace Gallery, and the Museum Bellpark in Switzerland. Notably, she is a 2022 Canadian Centre for Architecture Fellow and a 2021 Creative Capital Awardee. She has also been recognized with a Graham Foundation research grant in 2019 and has published an artist book in 2021. With a strong educational background, Vaughn holds degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pennsylvania, and has participated in esteemed programs such as the Whitney Independent Study Program and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Currently, she serves as an Associate Professor of Painting at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University.
