IN-GALLERY Portrait Signs: A Tour in ASL is an extraordinary experience that invites visitors to immerse themselves in American Sign Language (ASL) to explore various aspects of portraiture, history, and biography. Led by individuals who are deaf, these tours delve into both temporary exhibitions and the permanent collection at the renowned National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. Mark your calendars for the upcoming tour dates which are regularly updated as they are finalized. On November 18th from noon to 1 pm, there will be an exclusive ASL-only tour highlighting the newly opening exhibition "Forces of Nature." This exhibition pays homage to influential U.S. scientists, politicians, activists, writers, and artists who have shaped environmental attitudes from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day. Another not-to-be-missed event is scheduled for December 30th from noon to 1 pm, offering an ASL-only tour on a topic that will be announced soon. Additionally, on January 11th from 5 pm to 6 pm, there will be a unique tour conducted in both ASL and English, covering a topic that will be revealed later on. A similar tour, also conducted in both ASL and English, is scheduled for January 27th from noon to 1 pm, with a topic to be announced. Finally, on February 17th from noon to 1 pm, a captivating ASL-only tour will explore a topic that will be unveiled later.
