Stephen Sondiem and James Lapine have woven together the enchanting tales of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales, delving deep into the intricate consequences of the characters' wishes and quests. At its heart, the narrative draws from Little Red Riding Hood , Jack and the Beanstalk , Rapunzel , Cinderella , among others. The story is elegantly intertwined with the journey of a childless baker and his wife, who are on a quest to start a family—a tale rooted in the original beginning of the Grimm Brothers' Rapunzel . Their path crosses with a witch who has cast a curse on them, and as they navigate their quest, they interact with a vibrant cast of other storybook characters, each bringing their own magic and trials to the unfolding adventure.
