Details

March is Women's History Month, and the Lori Piestewa Challenge in Seattle is an opportunity to honor the service and sacrifice of over 400,000 female Soldiers currently serving in the nation. Scheduled for March 23rd at 9:00 am at Westfield Southcenter Mall, this event, hosted by Run Ambassador Rachel Elizalde, is a collaboration with Southcenter Mall and Tukwila Parks and Recreation. Participants are encouraged to wear blue as a symbol of solidarity in remembrance of the courageous women who have served and sacrificed for the country. The Piestewa Challenge, named after the first indigenous woman killed in action, Lori Piestewa, allows teams of 8 to log their miles using the Racery app to honor women in the military. This event holds significance as it pays tribute to the 177 women who lost their lives in combat operations worldwide since 9/11, along with all women who died while in service. The Hopi Tribe's contribution allows for the remembrance of Lori and all the incredible women who have bravely served the nation. Admission to the Lori Piestewa Challenge in Seattle is free.
