Join artist Molly Bonnell for a unique workshop called "MEMBRANES: Pewter Casting with Molly Bonnell" at Hypha Studios in London. This workshop is part of the larger exhibition, "MEMBRANES: Interactions and Intentions between Bodies, Biomes and Technologies," curated by Dr. Jennifer Crouch. Molly Bonnell is a multidisciplinary artist, researcher, and facilitator known for their exploration of the relationship between the human body and our constructed systems. In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to engage with their material landscapes by learning traditional and experimental casting techniques using pewter and cuttlefish shells. Each participant will design their own mark or symbol as a representation of their unique identity, which will then be transformed into a three-dimensional object using ancient casting methods. This workshop will delve into the materiality and historical craft of metalworking, emphasizing its ongoing relevance in our everyday lives. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to take their finished piece home. All materials and personal protective equipment will be provided.
