This two-day workshop is perfect for both beginners and those with some previous experience in the art of monotype and monoprint. On day one, Fiona will guide participants through the techniques of monotype printing, where ink is applied in a painterly manner to create unique, one-off prints. By experimenting with black and colored inks, as well as various tools and materials, you will have the opportunity to create a diverse collection of experimental prints. Day two focuses on monoprinting, a technique that allows you to produce a series of prints with subtle variations from the same plate. Fiona will demonstrate how to combine this technique with drypoint and chine colle, offering you the chance to explore different textures and colors in your prints. By the end of the workshop, you will have developed a collection of distinct and original prints. The Hello Print Studio, located at Dreamland in Margate, is a professional artist's printmaking studio equipped with facilities for screenprinting, etching, relief printing, and letterpress.
