Details

Join the Two-Day Workshop on Puppetry: How To Structure, Develop & Build A Narrative with acclaimed director, facilitator, dramaturg, and writer Emma Williams. This in-person event will be held at Puppet Place in Bristol's Spike Island on Saturday 10 and Saturday 17 February 2024, from 10am to 5pm each day. The workshop aims to provide participants with practical processes to create successful narratives for puppetry, using a range of starting points such as images, themes, and adaptations of stories. Throughout the workshop, participants will explore the rules of basic story structure, learn how to investigate ideas to frame material, and discover techniques for working without a linear narrative. They will also have the opportunity to share their own creative projects if desired. The workshop will equip participants with the confidence, excitement, and basic tools needed to develop their projects further. With a week in between, the two-day workshop allows time for reflection and preparation. On day one, participants will dive into the techniques used in two puppetry productions, including exploring adaptations of existing stories and developing ideas. On day two, the focus will be on adapting narratives for puppetry and finding a suitable frame for materials with a looser structure. Don't miss this valuable opportunity to enhance your puppetry storytelling skills. Limited discounted places are available for those on low incomes. Contact info@puppetplace.org for more details.
