Join RUNdetroit's Flight Club for a non-competitive 18 mile group training run on the 2023 Detroit Free Press Marathon Course. This exclusive event will take place on Sunday, September 10th, starting promptly at 8:10am. The route will cover miles 14-26, followed by 9-14 of the marathon course, giving participants a challenging and exhilarating experience. Please note that the roads will be open to regular auto traffic, so we will be running on sidewalks and pedestrian paths. Safety is our top priority, so we urge participants to exercise caution when crossing the road. To ensure hydration and energy, staffed water stations will be provided approximately every 4 miles, along with energy gels and hydration drinks at the halfway mark. Restrooms will also be available at the start/finish, and limited restrooms will be marked on the course map. Pace Leaders will guide participants at various mile intervals, including 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, and 11:00. In order to prioritize heat safety, all participants must be able to complete the run in 3 hours and 40 minutes or less, maintaining a pace of 12:15 per mile. Registration for this event is $8 + fees, which covers the cost of port-a-potties at the start/finish and aid stations along the course. Space is limited, so we encourage you to register early to secure your spot. Please note that there is no day-of registration, and online registration closes at 12pm on Friday, September 8th.
